If the kid from Arizona is there at 18 and he's the BPA, I wouldn't be mad at it.
I think Tetairoa McMillan's skill set is kind of redundant to JSN (and Kupp). He's 6'5" and long, but runs a 4.5. I would take Matthew Golden over McMillian.

...depending on who was available. I'm a proponent of trading down this year unless some blue-chipper falls to us.

I’d be shocked if the pick is that of the utmost need.

JSN was a no-brainer. I felt like he truly was the BPA that year where we took him. Also, we had 2 first round picks which made it that much easier to pull the trigger on BPA. I'm just not feeling it with this wide receiver class. I have a hard time believing BPA will be a receiver. Now someone had mentioned not wanting to take a tight end either. If Tyler Warren is still available by some miracle, I'd be running to the podium. But regular old receiver? Nah, you get one of those in rounds 2-4.
I was at that draft down on the floor. I was shocked with the picks but couldn't complain getting the top DB and WR.

The same GM took Dee Eskridge with our only non-day 3 pick in 2021 when most did not have WR as a pressing need.

You may not take them seriously, but it's a valid thought that precedent backs up as a possibility.

We hedged the spot with old vets. I see WR as a strong possibility with the first pick - Emeka Egbuka being a top-3 most likely selection for me.
You better stop backing up your posts with logic and facts , damn you.

I feel like Schneider has made a number of picks that weren't what the fans were expecting at the time. We don't know how he has these players rated. I hope he doesn't just see these picks as positions the way you apparently do.

It was literally just two years ago when Schneider drafted a first-round WR for his defensive-minded head coach, and that was with DK being further developed than JSN is, and Lockett being younger and less injured than Cupp is. And our guys beyond them are underwhelming, to say the least.

At the very least, I think we've seen that he doesn't just go to the draft with a list of needs and says, "OK, this is our biggest need, so we'll draft this position first, then this, etc". I doubt WR will be the first pick, but if he really likes Golden or Ebuka or someone, I don't think it's "moronic" to suggest he might take them.
Bingo. I wouldn’t be surprised at all with. WR or CB with the first pick.

They are in position to draft BPA so why not do so?

While I don't necessarily want WR at our 1st pick, I do think it's a possibility. We didn't necessarily need JSN at the time but he was the best WR on the board, and the best at his position. This draft may fall very similarly to 2023. It's not a deep WR draft on top of that. I want a game changer on Defense or an Offensive lineman but I would not rule out a WR. I keep hearing Ebuka is exactly the type of player the Seahawks love on and off the field.

That kid is on video talking about how he doesn’t like to watch football or game tape.

No way in hell would I draft a guy like that in Seattle. “We talking about practice!”

Yeah, I saw something about that. And he likes tennis more than football or some shit? Makes you wonder how dedicated he is to football long term.

Pete used to post clues as to who we would pick with our first. His clues made me even more confused that I already was and I almost NEVER have their first pick right. Last year was the first time I got it right in ages.
So nothing would really surprise me, or anything would surprise me. WR in this draft is a deep class. For that reason I rule that out for 18.
JS doesn't really believe in using high picks for O linemen. So I rule that out.
I think Pete was the one responsible for choosing corners at high spots, not JS. So I rule that out.
We don't really need a RB, so I rule that out.
Our D line is pretty top shelf so I rule that out.
We just paid good money for a difference maker at LB and our other one is young and playing well, so I rule that out.
I don't think we really need a TE...so that's gotta be it! And yes, I will moan and groan about what a stupid choice it was!

If we go into week 1 with Bobo as our #3 , our offense will be in trouble. We need another corner also. Its not ALL about the OL. Out of our top 5 picks you can get good value for IOL in rds 2 and 3 and later. Definitely BPA with #18 and that's usually a T ,WR ,DT or CB for draft value. So we'll see who sitting there for us. Because we could use upgrades everywhere.

The defense is in great shape. I have no clue what is going on with the offense.

So anything is possible.

if it is true that Metcalf had been asking for a trade the past few offseasons, then the JSN pick makes perfect sense. We (fans) had no knowledge of that situation though.. I can definitely see a wide receiver at 18 if they don’t plan on paying JSN 30+ million dollars a year
