I'm with you Aros and will be cheering hard for the Raiders but plenty of Hawks fans wont be. For some reason a lot of our fans hate both Pete and Geno
No, I'm just a seahawks fan. Not a Pete Carrol fan or a Geno fan. I root for the Seahawks. Most definitely do not root for the Raiders. That's like rooting for San Fran. No thanks.

Yeah I’m not a fan of calling anyone who thinks it was/is smart to move on from Geno/Pete or anyone as haters. At that point you’re more a fan of the individuals and not the team.

I thought Pete was great. I thought Geno was decent. I root for the Seahawks though. I loved Russ but I never at any point rooted for the Broncos.
I'm a seahawks fan.

I don't get why anyone would think he was worth keeping around. 21 td's and 15 int's? Yikes. Not good. Easily replaceable, at far less cost, with much higher ceiling possibilities.

Geno was not worth keeping around at what he would cost, period. He wasn't as good as some people thought around here, the fact we only got a third for him says all you need to see. Stafford's going value at around the same age was two first.

Geno is an above average QB that is prone to mistakes and inconsistencies. Nothing more, nothing less. Paying him a sizable portion of the cap would've been a huge mulligan by the FO.

I am cool with Geno and Pete...but hating the Raiders is a lifestyle that I am not willing to give up.

Watching that team has just got a whole lot funner though

The fact that Geno refused to come to the negotiation table after the offer of 40-45 million a year was put out there tells me, he never had any intention of re-signing here after the Seahawks didn't negotiate last year. Feels like his "Ain't Write Back" attitude forced the front office into pivoting. I believe MM and JS really wanted to work something out, but Smith said no. The Seahawks did right by him with getting him traded to the Raiders. That's mad respect in my book. Too many people here and over the interwebs are making more out of this whole thing than there really is.

Let's hope we can find someone to replace him that doesn't throw INTs at the most inopportune time. (And maybe, just maybe... we get a QB that keeps DK in house.)

Geno priced himself out of Seattle. If they have paid him it would completely disrupted the game plan that JS started with the trading of Russell Wilson.

They have the most rookies whose deals are going to expire very soon and manic of them will have to get paid.

We have two, Howell, and Darnold, I am debating which club to join, HowNO or DarNO. Second thought, I will pledge my legions to Howell. He has Schneider carved on his forehead, he is the one, future franchise QB.

Gotta admit, I’m a little nervous and a little excited about the QB position. Whatever direction it may take. As far as Geno is concerned, way to go, in getting a 3rd round pick for him. If they kept him on his current contract, or given him a modest extension, he very well could have played this year and next as a Seahawk. He was going to need to be replaced sooner rather than later anyway based on his age.

Geno was a net gain for the Seahawks in just about every way other than playoff wins. But that’s a discussion for a hundred other threads.
The Seahawks spent zero draft capital when they acquired him. He was a street free agent quickly on his way out of the league. He gave 3 years as a quality backup and then gave the franchise mostly good starting QB play for another 3 years. Then on his way out, he garners a 3rd round pick for his services. Thanks Geno, for your Seahawks service.

The Raiders Reddit forum is now full of "Seahawks fan, but now the Raiders are my 2nd team" posts, just like there was a bunch of Seahawks fans claiming the Lions as their 2nd team a few years ago after they beat the Packers, which gave us the last playoff spot. Phony fandom like that makes my eyes roll way back.

No I didn’t. You can be a hater for other reasons. With Russ claiming he was trash while he was here, had nothing to do with their success etc yeah you’re a hater.

Try again I guess?

Thanks for your play here Geno, but let's be honest, the Seahawks also did you a considerable favor when everyone else thought you were average backup-level at best. Not to take away his accomplishments in improving substantially later in his career, but that alone is often not enough. It's kind of like how murder requires means, motive, and opportunity. Geno may have always been motivated, but he only recently in his career was able to demonstrate the means, and the Seahawks were the opportunity. He should be grateful, very few QBs at the age he was when we signed him would have had such a good opportunity.

The 3rd round pick seems low, but really Geno had a bunch of leverage considering the roster bonus that was coming up. Once JS saw his only remaining option was to keep Geno at his current cap hit he made a business decision. I would have rather kept Geno another year but I also applaud any player who understands his leverage and uses it.
