Trade offer for DK on the table from Packers

I don't understand...Our defense really seems to have started to turn the corner last season. Why would a defensive minded coach trade away his known best offensive assets in Geno and DK? They bring "stability" during a time of change.
We could easily add some offensive line help and maybe an Edge or Linebacker in the upcoming draft. Our offense is going to be changing, but the defense will get us into the playoffs.

People forget we won a Superbowl with two undrafted receivers and 3rd round receiver. Trade him, build the D and Oline.

DK wasn't used properly last year. Either one of the Packer receivers on the table would be a downgrade and that #23 isn't statistically any more of a sure thing than a mid 2nd.

Yeah, pretty terribly. 0-2 record. No TDs and a pick in a blowout loss in the first one. Three INTs in the second one including a fourth quarter one in the end zone.

I can think of 31 million reasons why. Coach wants to have a long window of winning. Does a team that wants to switch up and run the football and use 21 personnel really need DK? His value is high and will start declining soon. It certainly would decline if we start running more and throwing less. Would you pay 31 large for a guy that may end up averaging 3 rec/ 55 yards / 7 tds… next season with the change in philosophy.

Begs the question, why? Is DK that much of a positive impact, or is Geno not as good as advertised.

For everyone asking why we'd trade DK, please don't forget that the Seahawks are rebuilding.

Let me say that again from the cheap seats, THE SEATTLE SEAHAWKS ARE REBUILDING THEIR ROSTER.

We are not one or two players away, we need several players on both sides of the ball plus 2 or 3 years to figure out if they're the right fit and integrate them into the system. The offensive line is this side of a disaster. We need a pass rush. We need a hard nosed corner to start opposite Spoon. And, oh yeah, we need a quarterback.
While I can clearly see what DK brings to the offense when he's on the field, I'd rather have a couple of picks to address the weak spots on the roster.

I think it'd be a fantastic decision for them if the Seahawks were to accept it, just seems like it'd take a bit of the air of a huge celebration I'm sure many of their fans have been excited for from the second it was announced. They're arguably the most passionate fan base in the league; it would be really cool to see their reaction to their first round pick. Those moments of the Jets booing their picks is legendary in draft day lore. I guarantee the league wants them to have a first round pick. Not that I'm sympathetic to the higher-ups, just pointing out that everyone is aware that it's great drama.

Kinda like how we used to trade out of the first round every year. Draft night is one of my favorite nights of the year, and when I'm in anticipation mode and at the end we don't pick it's kinda like "well, maybe that was a good decision, but damn, I really wanted them to take someone". I have a lot of good memories tied to hanging out with friends and being at the edge of my seat while we were on the clock.

-- I am a DK guy. Love the skills and the tenacity. But I am also a realist, and our cap problems are real. I think we can make it work this year, but I'm not sure the next contract would come from Seattle. Do we keep him for a year and lose him for nothing, or do we do the best deal we can now, and get more cap space and draft capital on the books to replace him.

-- Also, funny how this subject almost always brings up references to AJ Brown and Burkes. Yet seldom see Diggs to Jefferson mentioned. Myself included in that, I always think of the Brown situation first, but sometimes it can work.

-- Final thought. You give that Green Bay offense and legit big dog like DK, and I will pick them to pass Minnesota and Detroit this year.

OK, I'm going to be honest and admit I thought you had just remembered Geno's huge yardage day and the three TDs against the Rams and were trying to insinuate that he's better without DK (fans have been doing that in regards to JSN), so now I'm not really sure how to respond. By being level-headed about it, you kinda ruined what I thought was going to be a "gotcha" moment lol.

Regardless, I see DK as a special person that embodies a lot of what people should (and claim to) want in their star players: passion, humility, loyalty, desire to win, the willingness to do the things that don't show up on the stat sheet, support of his teammates, etc., and it bothers me when people get caught up in little things with him and try to push a spurious belief that he's just another diva wideout. Who he is, combined with his absolutely sick physical talent... man, I just really, really want to see what he can do as we continue to build the team. I hope he's a Seahawks lifer.

His production isn't worth the cost to extend him, and doesn't fit into our long term rebuilding plans. That probably applies to DK also, unless he has an amazing year under Kubiak.

LOL. I like DK and I think he does lots of things that fans don’t see that impact the team in a good way.

If you ever seen him fake like he’s about to catch a pass to draw coverage away from an open spot, or likewise fake a fade in the end zone to allow a running back a few extra yards of cushion before a corner turns to look for the ball only to see a running back heading towards the goal line. Those are special things, and not many WRs to that. His blocking is good. He’s a special talent. He doesn’t catch everything, and he’s not perfect but he’s a keeper.

Where I was going with the Geno reference is that Geno has been really solid in Seattle, but he has always had DK here. DK misses time and Geno had some awful outings. If DK is traded, we’ll have to limit Geno’s passing. That should happen either way, but trading DK pushes the issue - we are running the damn ball.
