Are Brock Purdy’s day in SF numbered?

Purdy isn't worth anywhere near what he's hoping to get, but the niners had no leverage to force his team to come down. They can't rely on a 7th rounder to come in and replace him, though.

POLL: Are You A Draft Grumbler?

I think the Hawks started out strong and finished strong in the draft, but unlike in previous drafts I feel the middle is where we failed. The draft is about finding value with your picks, and I think after Ammenwori we started reaching (injury-prone TE with no college production in round 2???)...

    Pick 223: Damien Martinez

Good late-round bargain. I've viewed RB as a 4th round or later position for 20+ years now, and an early pick would probably just end up injured like all our other RBs. Gotta keep drafting RB periodically to avoid handing out 2nd contracts.

    Pick 166: Tory Horton

Now this is the area of the draft to take a shot on a guy whose biggest knock is injuries. If he suffers more injuries you didn't waste much draft capital, and if he stays healthy you get good value for the draft spot.

    Sam Howell traded to Vikings

Like I thought, he wouldn't net us an extra pick but was part of a pick swap. Certainly better than nothing for a player who clearly wasn't going to be on the team this season.

    Four picks one OL selected

May not need much fixing? I'm pretty sure that over the last 15 years we are dead last in the NFL for OL, and the same guy has been running those drafts all those years. Everything about the last 15 years points towards our current crop being crap just like the previous 15 years. The same...

    Your draft pick grades

Zabel: A The Hawks *NEEDED* to come out of the draft with a rookie who can lock down a spot on the OL. Too many question marks on the OL with too little talent on the team. Normally I wouldn't give an A to a guard this early in the draft, but I know how absolutely crucial it was for the Hawks...

    Four picks one OL selected

I disagree that the talent level is the same as our current guys. Our current guys are a step below because our front office places versatility above ability. Schneider would rather have mediocre linemen who are mediocre at multiple positions than to have decent linemen who only play one...

    Four picks one OL selected

I didn't necessarily expect the Hawks to use 2 of their first 4 (or 5) on OL, so only getting Zabel isn't an issue to me, but I only liked our first 2 picks. It seemed like Schneider was on the right track and then everything got derailed after we got Emmanwori. A Tight End with almost no...

    Pick 92: Jalen Milroe

Just because some teams waste picks doesn't mean we should. When you are competing in a league to be #1 out of all of them you can't be making excuses about other teams making bad decisions too. You don't want to be those other teams. Those other teams aren't going to the super bowl. In the...

    Pick 35: Nick Emmanwori

I'm generally not a fan of trading up, but it makes sense when you're getting someone in the 2nd round who was projected to go in the 1st. Only injuries would prevent Emmanwori from being a real contributor. Our defense should be a little more exciting .

    RD 2 wants

Exactly. With a good offensive line you can get good enough production from 4th round RBs. We need to stop putting the cart before the horse.

    O-Line talk is "lazy narrative"

I've reached the conclusion that the reason our O-line always sucks is because we always overvalue versatility. The Hawks put the cart before the horse, just like they did with SPARQ and second level blocking (when they whiff on primary assignment). Schneider is not wrong when he says he's used...

    Shedeur Sanders

He can either be humbled by this, or he can be bitter and decide that the NFL "owes him". We'll see. It certainly means something when every team passes on you.

    Pick 18: Grey Zabel

Can't complain. We really needed to enter the season with an expectation that at least one position on the OL will be improved, and this takes care of that. We were in danger of having a lost season due solely to a college-level offensive line.
