I'm one that thought that Carroll's "culture" was entirely overrated past the first few years. Undisciplined, competition in name only, arrogant in player acquisition, simple in scheme, etc. But I'm a huge believer that Macdonald's culture, work ethic, and willingness to adapt is the bedrock of this team and will make them contenders for the next decade (like we've seen with the other big name coaches with long tenures).

Point differential was 3 points in all 2025 losses. The team will be better in 2026. 15+ wins is difficult but not out of the realm.

Week 1 vs. 49ers: Lost by 4 points
Week 5 vs. Buccaneers: Lost by 3 points
Week 11 vs. Rams: Lost by 2 points

Fluery is cited most often as the biggest ?. Just not seeing JS and MM picking the wrong guy here. Similar system to Kub's and analytical like MM. Not a major concern until/unless a reason is exposed.

When they get into why there's going to be a drop-off, it's essentially no more than "because". It never gets deeper than losing Kubiak (who wasn't considered a "guru" until 2025...and if his name was "Jones", probably wouldn't have been as hot of a commodity) and Walker (who has already been replaced).

We went from Pete Carroll/Russ to Mike Macdonald/Sam.

Pretty big contrast, to say the least.

In a different thread I referenced the Rams and their "All Star" team. That CAN be a recipe for success - it can just as easily be a complete disaster. Also consider that the Rams are set up at QB as a single point failure. If anything happens to Stafford - their hopes are dashed. Stafford is the absolute lynchpin for that offense - much more so than most other teams. Without him they would most likely implode.

Initially, PC's actions matched his philosophy (competition, team orientation, etc.)...then BOOM, literally! The LOB, Baldwin, Lynch, and others rejected his transition to Me3 + the team. PC lost the locker room, performance waned, then he took the lazy approach going after FA's that depleted our draft stock.

Loved PC until I didn't. Wasn't sure if Jody would make the change though. So glad she didn't let the aura of PC influence her decision. Pretty cunning to see what needed to stay (JS) and needed to go (PC). Usually they bring in new team entirely.

It's been year success and transition. I mean we all knew we were on the cusp of something special. Even after the week one loss to San Francisco (Woolen's fault) I knew they were poised for winning a lot of games. This year I feel like this off-season we added pieces to compliment our roster. This squad is different for sure but in a good way. Everyone outside of our fanbase is screaming regression. I don't see it that way and Macdonald wouldn't allow it. I'm anxious to see Price in this system. He will compliment both Wilson and Charbonnet. Also can't wait to see Bud Clark in this defense. If any team decides to look past us they do it their own stupidity and peril. Last year it was "they won't make the playoffs". This year it's "They'll regress to just a wildcard team". Just wait and see
