Im no expert and didnt watch ND games intentionally, all I know is (personally) Price reminds me a lot of Frank Gore going into the LOS and navigating his blocks with his patience and vision and then a lot like James Cook in terms of immediate acceleration (Id say Price is a bit more explosive and easily stronger just not as fast) but both have similar size and an ultra smooth effortless running style that still generates plenty of missed tackles despite minimal horizontal movement, creative dancing or high physicality that can have certain drawbacks and risks vs the reward.Their OL is always among the best in college, Love clearly was
the better RB, I thought besides USC that Price underperformed
in his chances, I know I'm going to be in the minority in saying
that but I see ND football all the time, I live in South Bend.
I really did not want Price but possibly he plays better in the pro
game than in college like Rickey Watters did.
I hope he does..
Gore and Cook weren’t picked as high as Price was but both did have similarly low-milage tenures in college either because taking a backseat to a more talented starter and/or injuries but the guys they sat behind weren't maybe necessarily as talented as Love was either. Gore (65th overall) sat behind Clinton Portis (51st overall). Cook (63rd overall) sat behind D’andre Swift (35th overall). Love (#3 overall) was not falling out of the top 10 even in the worst case scenario and while Price was arguably a reach at 32, in the best case scenario, Seahawks would have preferred to trade down and then take Price but circumstances of finding a good enough trade fell apart with the 49ers and Bills monopolizing the market. And there wasnt really another quality option available to fall back on for instance, hypothetically, if this was the 2022 draft and the Seahawks traded down from 32 to 38th, hoping to get Breece Hall they could still grab Kenneth Walker.
Furthermore, in both cases of Gore and Cook, they not only established themselves as top 5-10 RBs on their rookie contracts. Both went on or are having better careers then the guy they had to back up.
