Thus far, I saw more potential in Seneca Wallace at this point than I have seen in Jalen Milroe.

I wouldn't disagree with that. Then again, I thought Sean Salisbury was going to be a star in the league so my judgement is clearly questionable.

Though I do think he (and Sam and Drew) will have at least one more to put on their fingers after this season.

He's fast and powerful, but I'm not seeing this elusiveness that people keep mentioning. Nobody should be confusing him with Lamar Jackson. He doesn't make anyone miss.

He made plenty of people miss, and plenty of people chase him as he is flying down the field. But he does rely more on speed than being elusive overall. He's also a pretty strong dude who's not exactly easy to take down. If he played for "THE" though.....

I said he was strong in my post. Yeah, he can run past people, but I think of elusive as more of a wiggle, or making people miss sort of thing. People kept comparing him to Lamar, which seemed really lazy to me. Milroe is clearly a talented runner, but not in the same way. He doesn't really even break that many tackles.

And if you think it's an allegiance thing, the two QBs I repeatedly said I didn't want in that draft were Milroe and Will Howard.

I’m thinking they made an agreement that at least the first year+ will be pro qb school, as not to ruin his development, he must get on the field and maybe add something to those aj barber short yardage and red zone

I expect his mechanics and poise to be better. I expect flashes of brilliance and athleticism mixed in with inconsistency. You know, like a young, backup quarterback…

Milroe was one of two draft picks from last year that everyone was absolutely stoked about (the other beyond Arroyo) but I've just kinda been standing around going meh. What does everyone see with this guy? It just feels like everyone wants to justify the high pick. I think we've got two busts on our hands there. It's premature to say so and they can turn things around, but I'm just not seeing anything right now.

Of course, it's great to be able to stand in the shadow of a second Lombardi and say that...

I absolutely was not stoked at all; I hated the pick because I thought he was
hot garbage at Alabama and cannot see him ever being a starter unless he fools

I don't buy that he doesn't have trade value. Hawks could get a 3rd round pick for him. I stick to that opinion until I see differently.

Not much to think on. Playing QB in the NFL is really hard, obviously lol. Less obviously, QBs are really hard to scout/evaluate. So if hes not at least jumping off the screen (eye test and all that) by year two, and we acknowledge the extremely low hit rate on starting qbs in this league, he should be an afterthought at best. We already have a starting caliber QB after all.

"But he can develop" I understand that. But every year that goes by, the 3rd string project QB talent pool is refreshed with many QBs with a similar skill set as Milroe.

With all that being said I can still see the benefits of him having a great preseason and becoming trade bait. Especially since all our players have that superbowl sheen to them, perhaps inflating Milroes value a little. So I hope he lights it up and proves me wrong.

I am very eager to see what he does in the preseason. He’s got a mountain to climb to overtake Sam the man. But if for some reason Sam can’t play for a while, it’s so much more interesting to see what Milroe can do than to just pivot to a journeyman game manager.

It’s hard to see him become the starter for the Seahawks now but I haven’t given up on him either.

I feel JS simply drafted him in case Darnold crashed-and-burned like his detractors were saying.

There are a few reasons Milroe was drafted:

• If Darnold returned to his Jets form we would need another starting QB and Milroe would be an option if he trained well
• If both Darnold and Milroe did well we could trade / cut Locke and Milroe would act as back up
• If Darnold and Milroe did very well when Darnold is demanding a $60m+ per year extension we could let him go giving us the cap space to keep the core of our team in other positions.

The latter (bolded) is going to be very unlikely unless Darnold has an MVP season for the ages next season.

For the record, I like him. I think they could use him in certain situations.
