Posting Doug Baldwin on the countdown to kick-off thread got me thinking about the best undrafted player we have ever had, be interested to see who everyone else thinks.

You can vote for up to 3 players.

All very good players. Pedestrian Doug for the win! What a career. Hard working and relentless. That catch (full extension) in Minnesota to keep the drive going in the frigid tundra was epic.

Without even opening the thread to see what the options were, ADB was my choice. Dude was so underrated, and that probably propelled him to greatness. To this day, I don't need to see the uniform to know it's Baldwin running a route. He had such a unique style

So many good choices. I put someone else. That someone is Rufus Porter.
I vividly remember the anticipation when Porter would come into the game, was not the best early down guy but on 3rd down that guy was a lightning bolt. The noise in the Kingdome when Porter came in was absolutely peak decibel numbers

Jake Bobo.

Just kidding. I think there is a top 5 on that list that you can't really put one player above another. I just hope people don't forget about Joe Nash, I think his body of work has been largely underrated.

Well, considering drafts were 12 rounds until 1994, Dave Kreig (as a franchise QB for Seattle for 9 years, 19 years overall, 15 as a starter) and Joe Nash (15 Seasons all with the Seahawks) and Eugene Robinson (16 years, 11 with Seahawks) all have to be considered pretty high on this list. But it was before my time so I don’t necessarily know how a Joe Nash compares to a Michael Bennet.

However, no coach was probably better than Carroll at developing the lower round picks 5-7 and especially udfa talent into quality starters maybe a much better or as good of clip than rounds 1-4. And had Carroll coached in 2009, its possible Michael Bennett might have been a Seahawk for at least 8 seasons if not more.

I love ADB and some of the others here, but for sheer impact I had to pick the QBs, and Krieg would be my top choice. It’s the most premium position in all of sports. Zorn and Krieg were our starting QBs for a combined 15 years. Krieg is a top 10 all time undrafted QB. After those guys, my next choice would have to be Eugene Robinson. Franchise cornerstone for 11 years. Still second all time in franchise tackles and picks. Three time pro bowler on some bad teams, nfl pick leader in 1993. Best player on the team in the period between Largent’s retirement and Tez’s emergence. He was Mr Seahawk for a generation of fans.

Dave Krieg should absolutely be number one on the list. Forget that he came literally out of some unknown college that failed to exist a few years after he was in the league, the guy ended up becoming a pro bowler during a time where you had the best quarterback era ever. Sure he was streaky, but he retired as the seventh all-time leading quarterback statistically of all time.

Thought I would delay my thoughts until people had had a chance to post.

I couldn't decide between Krieg and Baldwin (hence my decision to allow multiple picks).

Difficult who to decide to put after that, Zorn probably had the most influence on the Seahawks but that is the nature of being QB while Bennett, Robinson and Nash were all better compared to their contemporaries in their position.
