Power runnning right at guys like that works, our new OC is a student of this using TE's as well. Should be a interesting chess match.
Isn't one of Garret's main strength is his run defense? I think the Rams considered this as well,, they are probably tired of getting gashed on the run.
Love it when a rival has to make drastic investments of future capital to stay competitive...checkers move while JS is playing chess.Good points, but Rams may have been motivated, at least in part, to simply keep Garrett away from the Seahawks, what with all the 2027 draft capital Seattle has with which to build an attractive trade offer with the Browns.
He's great at both. Lets be real Garrett is a stud and probably the best non QB player in the league. I just hope Stafford cant stay healthy and they have to use Ty Simpson and waste this gamble.I've heard the opposite, but admittedly I'm not sure if that is true
I actually think it was a great move..that they drafted a QB, resigned Stafford for another year, and now have arguably the best defense in the league, and a great offense... When stafford retires next or year after, Ty will be somewhat seasoned and can go on from there, all without having to draft a QB in next years draft.Love it when a rival has to make drastic investments of future capital to stay competitive...checkers move while JS is playing chess.
Gotta somewhat disagree, He's been the most disruptive player in the league and there's probably nothing like going to a contender to get you extra motivated especially when they play us.. He's gonna be a disruption, hope I'm wrong and we are going to have to take account for him.Just my own opinion but :
Not worried in the least about Garrett's impact.
The Rams STILL have not addressed their special teams issues.
Also, Verse was more of a disrupter and I'm glad he's gone.
I mean Garrett could be the same but older legs means just a second slower in getting to Sammy D which is all he would need to get rid of the ball, imo.
I'm going out on a limb and say that while Garrett will provide an impact on the Rams defensively, it won't be much of an impact against the Seahawks.
Now if the Rams managed to KEEP Verse and had Garrett, *then* there would be issues to worry about....
Bah. Let him come.Of course now, all the rumors of a Aaron Donold coming out of retirement.
MacDuffie is not a JAG but he's not Darrelle Revis either.This. I’m all for the homerism. I am. But, the Rams got A LOT better this off-season.
While I’d love to have a guy like Verse, he’s not really that close to Garrett. No one is. Simple facts.
Can’t act like this didn’t make the Rams better…that McDuffie is a JAG. And if AD decides to come back….idc if he’s been out the league for a bit now…he’s the best to ever do it at his position imo.
The Rams are throwing everything into this next season. Future talk/projections aside, they’re going all in right now.
I think MM is up for the challenge.
The brought in a new special teams coach, hired a couple special teams FA. Also will have a new crop of rookies on special teamsJust my own opinion but :

Dude. Aaron Donald could miss 5 years, and he would still knock fools out. He's an all-time great.Bah. Let him come.
He will have minimal impact, imo.
We Do Not Care!

No one stops JSN.MacDuffie is not a JAG but he's not Darrelle Revis either.
JSN won't be stopped.
Man… this might be literally the first time I’ve disagreed with you….ever.He's not invincible.
C'mon, man.
If he came back, he'd be 35 years old and while he would've been out of football for just 2 years, 35 is still 35.
I argued against Garrett's impact due to his slower foot speed (in my opinion, that is) due to his being 30 to Verse's 25 but Donald at 35? Guy's going to be a friggin' snail in comparison.
I'm not worried in the least if he decides to return.
Man… this might be literally the first time I’ve disagreed with you….ever.
AD having time to heal up, stay in shape…even if it were a rotational basis, no one wants to see that with Garrett there.
I’d say the Rams SB odds would dramatically increase if AD gets back into the mix.
I definitely understand the perspective!!Take a snapshot. This is a huge moment! LOL
But in all seriousness, Father Time is an opponent that is undefeated, Gem.
Donald could still be effective if he came back but he'll still be 35, not 30 or younger.
5 years on the other side of 30, and two years after retirement from actively playing, is not an ideal situation where a player decides to come back and magically picks up where he left off in his career.
I just don't see it. (and don't bring up Philip Rivers, please. lol )
I guess I'm going to be alone on an island on this in having far more confidence in this team handling him (and Garrett) than anyone else.
I'm used to it, though.
I was alone on an island for a long time when it came to Darnold so this position isn't new to me.![]()
