Let’s do some math. In this offseason free agency the Seahawks have lost:

K9….shared most of the load, part time starter. For those that don’t know, I’m a huge K9 fan.

Reek Woolen….lost starting position multiple times. Essentially another part time starter, rotational piece.

Mafe….rotational
Pass rusher. Part time starter.

Coby….another guy who split reps for various reasons.

Of those four guys listed above, the loss of K9 was probably the biggest loss going into the 2026 season. Hence the Jadarian Price pick. He might not have the breakaway speed of K9 but this dude can run the rock and catch it. I’m thinking many Seahawks fans are mad that K9 left based solely on his Super Bowl MVP. My guess is that at least half of dot net alone wanted K9 gone be they saw what he could do without sharing time in the backfield. When Charbs went down everything changed with K9. His work load and his reputation with Seahawks fans went up for the most part.
It’s going to be well into training camp, preseason games and a few regular season games before we can really get a handle on what Price brings. If he is even close to K9 in terms of production, then this team will still have a viable run game while saving $10 million dollars at the RB position.

This is a solid team from top to bottom. With what they lost in free agency, this Price pick was the best option they had. This pick helps the team in lots of ways.

So from the bits I caught of the presser last night and reading Dugar's article this morning, they did not get a deal they liked or any at all to trade down which is why they stayed at 32. I guess the thought process was filling the roster's biggest need, even if it went against conventional wisdom was better than taking cents on the dollar in a trade down.
"Cents on the dollar"
Completely inaccurate. Schneider has also been burned pretty much every time he tried to trade the 1st and then kept it because he didn't like the trade offers.
More bites at the apple is better than keeping the first and making a wasteful pick.

Using a 1st on a RB who wasn't even the starter on his team is *literally* getting cents on the dollar.

He was behind the best RB in college

It’s actually the opposite, he is actually the best bang for the buck for what they need now…..there is nobody else available for the price.

Easy to just throw stuff out there. Back it up, give us some examples of when that's happened. Plus I think we all know, or should know, it's only since 2023 that John has been completely in charge.

Sounds like JS didn't want to trade back too far into the 2d round and risk missing out on Price. Two of the key teams we would have traded with were AZ and the Jets, who both traded up ahead of us. I would have loved another 2/3d day pick or two, but it just didn't happen.

Coby Bryant played more snaps last year than any other defensive player (87.08%) so hardly split reps.

If it wasn't for the Charbs injury CB would be our clear greatest need for replacement, but with Charbs out we need a starter at both CB and RB, I was thinking the better option was to get CB first but I can accept us getting them the other way round.

If it makes you feel better I think Charbs and Wilson can be short yardage guys in this slightly new system.

I get it though I thought we were going corner but I also told my son pre-draft IF they go Price I'll be excited because that tells me they think Price is a difference maker in a SB window. Maybe the new OC said he needs this for his system. I would almost guarantee they will still get a good corner later too. I totally get where you're coming from but I think you're going to love Price and how he fits the zone system.

We're in good hands!
You make a good point about Fleury.
I think this pick was to give our new OC a running start out the gate and they felt if they waited until #64 the options wouldn't likely be there.
Price also is a great story and human being which when aligned with high potential & talent is hard to pass on. In that respect this reminds me of the Jalen Milroe pick on some level.

Maybe I just wanted a high-end CB or an upgrade at RG. Maybe there's still some lingering first round trauma over Rick Mirer or remembering CJ Procise. Need to just think Golden Tate, Julian Love, Rylie Mills.

At this point I'd be happy if John could find just one defensive player to contribute meaningful minutes this season and I hope it's a DB.
Also if our RB room is so questionable to warrant this pick then they should definitely bring in another day 3 RB pick or a couple undrafted FA RB's for insurance against injuries.

Also I have no problem with Price wearing #24, I think it will put some good pressure on him.

We already brought in Emmanuel Wilson, still have Holani and McIntosh

I'm honestly shocked in a very short window to win the SB they didn't take someone to try to win the arms race with Seattle. It doesn't make sense. Brock Huard went nuts when this move happened and I think he even likes Simpson and I felt the same way. The last thing I wanted was for them to take a guy who helps them immediately as SB rosters/windeows are never guaranteed and they should've tried to capitalize on it and didn't. It was really, really funny lol.
Still shocked they took Simpson and not someone like Lemon or Sadiq.

Or a pass rusher.

As a result, the Rams are still the same BEATABLE team they were last season.

I think our chances of repeating as, at least, Division Champs went up considerably last night.
