He had an off year last year because of Injury but...if we trade out of 32 and get a few picks.. I wouldnt mind a 3 on draft day for him (if its an extra 3rd because I still want Washington there or low 2nd)

According to HawkBlogger, a run stuffing D Tackle, that would require pick 32, is rumored to have visited the Seahawks. That would have to be Dexter L.

Maybe a possibility.

How does a player still under an active contract visit another team?

I am thinking that is against NFL rules.

I think Trackhawk was suggesting the Ohio State DT made a visit. Hawkblogger was suggesting if the Hawks were looking at the Ohio State DT at 32 maybe they'd be interested in Dexter Lawarence.
At least that's what I gathered.

An active player can obtain permission, from the team controlling his rights, to visit with other teams, but I think I misunderstood HawkBlogger's rumor.

It was not Lawrence who visited

The injury was a dislocated elbow near the end of the 2024 season he doesn’t seem to be the same player as before the injury I would pass

Lawrence has 2 years left on his current deal. We all know how JS feels about signing players to new deals when they have 2 years left on their current contract

Based on one season? He barely had a full off season to recover the elbow and probably should have started on IR.....Which contributed to his stats in the last season

A third and a restructure would be silly NOT to do

J Reed is 34 and his contract is up in 2027 too. Not a bad transition plan.

Even if Lawrence wants crazy (take a hike) money, we'd have him for 2 years and would likely get a comp pick for him.

Feel like.. Rylie might be the answer to all of our problems there though? Young guns Murphy and Milles in the middle, we can see what pili has (sp)

He sucked last season. I would be pissed if we gave up 64 for him, much less 32. You can get far better for the 32 pick, than a guy with career low numbers.

Why is it that anytime anyone requests a trade, hawkblogger is right there wanting the hawks to trade all our top picks for them?

Last year... because of a lingering elbow injury he sustained at the end of a 9 sack season......

Also.. top picks? Proven talent.. with a single off year because of injury to an.. elbow? Ah yes.. college prospects.. what a win win situation

Teams trade for player contracts, NOT for the player. A good player who is contracted to earn significantly more than he is worth has a zero or negative trade value - see Tagovailoa, Murray, Wilson, etc. Lawrence wants to be paid his FA market value. He will have zero or negligible trade value - providing teams have/had the opportunity to sign an equivalent FA player. I don't think he's significantly better than other FA players who were available. Any team interested in acquiring him should agree a new contract with him beforehand. I'm not saying don't acquire him, but it shouldn't be for any significant pick. At most about 40 Draft chart points. I'd wait until after the Draft, or offer a 2027 4th round pick.

Mills plays DT behind Murphy right? J Reed is our NT with Pili behind him. There’s no law (pun intended) that says they can’t be shuffled around, but ideally we’d be 2 deep with starter-capable DL across the line so we can keep everyone fresh without a steep dropoff as we substitute.

Williams/Morris are our incumbent DE, so we could stand pat there. The other DLaw and Ivey to me have the most urgent need for a succession plan, with Nwosu/Hall on the other side probably a couple years out.
