Everyone knows the Seahawks were 60-1 longshots before the season started. But did you know that the odds actually got worse after the week 1 loss to the 49ers, to 80-1? That would have been the time to place your bet.
It actually got better after the week 4 win over the Cardinals, to 33-1, but the week 5 loss to the Bucs pushed it back up to 40-1.
The Seahawks steadily climbed in the betting odds for winning the Super Bowl over the next 5 weeks, and after beating the Cardinals in week 10, the odds improved to 10-1.
Surprisingly, the week 11 loss to the Rams, 21-19, only put a little dent into the odds, and Vegas gave them 12-1 odds. But Vegas was really wrong this year, and at this point, they still had the Rams, Eagles, Lions, Chiefs, Bills and Colts ahead of the Seahawks.
The Seahawks surged a bit after their week 13 win over the Vikings, and they climbed to 7.5-1. And you would have thought that the win over the Rams in week 16 would make them the favorites but Vegas still had the Rams ahead of the Seahawks, 4.25-1 vs. 5.5-1.
It wasn't until after the last regular season game against the 49ers that the Seahawks became the favorite to win the Super Bowl, with 3.5-1 odds.
