His coaching career includes:

• Early roles at Maryland (intern/GA), Sacred Heart (secondary coach, then DC), and Towson (special teams coordinator/defensive backs).

• NFL stops: Quality control with the Buffalo Bills (2013), assistant linebackers/outside linebackers with the Cleveland Browns (2014–2015), football research analyst/director with the Miami Dolphins (2016–2018).

• Joined the 49ers in 2019 as defensive quality control coach, switched to offensive quality control (2020–2021), then tight ends coach (2022–2024), and promoted to his current dual role starting in 2025.

He’s worked under head coach Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco and has been involved in developing tight ends like George Kittle.

Hmm I’m not really inspired by this… at all. Oh boy George Kittle.. the TE that was already great coming out of college .. the TE that spends half the season injured every year… and we see him in game like 9/10 .. One out of Two games each yr because he’s injured.

Not a fan of this one tbh

I think it’s a feeler if they need another coach. Not necessarily the OC.

Seems like a potentially good out-of-the-box hire. He certainly gets the most out of his players.

Suggesting he causes injuries to his guys is a take.

This one is hard to figure. Fleury is an older guy, 47, who's been around in different capacities on both the defense and offensive sides. He's never been an OC at any level or a QB coach. Definitely not one of the young whiz kids. But I don't want to be age-ist. There must be something about this guy that Macdonald likes.

There have been a lot of OC hires this off season. We get slim pickings. I appreciate that this guy is a Shanahan deciple similar to Joe Kubiak was. Not a bad interview but it will be interesting to compare all the interviewees before deciding how I feel about any final decision.

What are the chances Hawks get a dynasty going with a new OC every year? Very slim I'd be willing to bet. Klint should have stayed for at least one more year.

I have only two words for you (as to why you should be concerned about who becomes the OC): Ryan Grubb.
Ryan Grubb made us better.
No seriously and not because he left (well, yeah that too).
I think Mike saw how much we needed to commit to the run and Grubb exposed it. So Mike had to forcefully align the offense to the style he wanted because of Grubb. Then Mike got rid of Grubb and this time with Kubiak he didn’t allow Kubiak to stray from the vision. I think Kubiak improved too by doing what Mike wanted. Kubiak learned patience and it’s gonna help him in Vegas.
