Seattle has had numerous top safety players. Obviously, starting with the great Ken Easley, one of my favorite Hawks all time.

But how lucky are we to have watched Kam Chancellor dominate and now a young and talented Nick Emmanwori room the field? And Nick is just a rookie. Man the future is bright.

This is going to sound really off-putting to some but I'll say it. Kam and Nick shouldn't be compared. Emman is not even a safety. That's what he is listed as but he rarely do true safety things.

Dude is just an entirely different position that he is molding. He is creating a new position. Kam wasn't asked to do what Nick does.

To be honest I don't even know what position Emm truly plays. He fills in the gaps wherever needed and moves all over the place. Basically he is a unicorn, one of a kind.

Kinda like the old monster man position, a hybrid linebacker/safety.

Kam and Emanworri have some similar traits and some dissimilar traits. Both occupied a hybrid linebacker/safety role although relative to passing downs, are used schematically different (Kam as a traditional safety and Eman used as a nickel corner). Kam is much stronger. Eman is lengthier, more agile, and angular. Eman is much better in man coverage and pursuit. Kam is much better with punishing physicality. Eman will use a running back move, the jump cut, to circumvent a pulling guard, although when forced otherwise, can also swim like a defensive tackle. Kam will simply plant his forearms into a pulling guard's chest and literally lift him off of his feet before discarding him to take on a ball carrier.

Kam needed to be developed his rookie season. Eman looks like a future gold jacket right out of the gate. I have watched every Seahawk season since the expansion year of 1976. I watched almost every game of Ken Easley's career. For at least two seasons, at least until Ronnie Lott transitioned from cornerback to safety, Ken Easley was the best strong safety in football and it wasn't really close. I think Eman can be better. Knowing what we know now, I'll bet that if the 2025 draft were to be done over, Eman would be a top 15 pick and closer to 10 than to 15. I have watched football for a long, long time and I can only recall two safeties that were instantly great, I mean really great, from day one. Troy Polamalu and Ed Reed. That is how I regard Eman. Instantly great on day one. I think he is the best pure defensive football player on the team. Smart, outstanding in coverage, disciplined relative to penalties, defeats blocks, sure tackler, just pops off of the screen. Just really, really good.

On another note relative to Emanworri: We need a damn nickname. Typing out Emanworri is just too cumbersome. I saw some folks calling him Demon. Is that what we are calling him? Demon?

Emmanwori plays much more like Easley than Kam

I agree. Emmanwori's physical build, athletic ability, speed, versatility, competitive mindset and football intelligence remind me of of KE45.
It's an accurate comparison today, but Nick has a long way to go to ever match a man with a 10 INT season, NFL defensive player of the year and to be inducted into the HOF with only seven seasons of play.
I think Kam shares some similar traits but was more of a SS in a LBers body. All three share a fierceness than instills fear in opponents and the ability to do things on the field that few others can.

Keep in mind that Kam mostly sat his 1st year behind Milloy. What will Eman look like in the years to come? I agree, it’s not fair to compare the two players, but those two are impact Seahawks!

Agree with all takes here but, I will say that I believe Demonworri is going to be as strong, if not stronger, than Kam.

Thats not a knock on Kam. Kam was freaking incredible. But our rook has him beat in every single metric. He’s faster and (don’t hate me) more explosive.

Kam is one of my favorite Hawks of all time. Bam Bam was something else. He knew when to hit…and was often aligned to do so.

I don’t know what you classify Nick as other than ‘Defense’.

We’ve been blessed for sure!!
