I was not sure how this might work out over the season but I feel MM has threaded the needle with great success. Having whichever running back has the hot hand throughout the season start the game has worked well. Also having two different style backs also helps game plan to specific defenses. While we can all feel sad about Charbs getting hurt we can feel good knowing K9 has fresh legs for this late season stretch due to the running by committee philosophy. K9 in the last game showed how fresh his legs were. He ran like a man possessed. Decisive and strong. I hope in future seasons we keep this concept going.

Kind of ironic that after Kennedy Polamalu left for ? reasons the running came took off.
Right? That kind of stuff always fascinates me.

ETA: I mean, on the surface, it makes sense. But I imagine that it's so much more complicated than a simple 2-1=1 thing. Like, was he teaching something that held them back, then, upon his departure, K9 just simply stopped doing said thing and started doing something else that someone already on the staff knew would work and their "voice" wasn't loud enough?

Back on topic, I kinda like RBBC for just that reason you stated. Over working one RB until he gets injured and then over working the next man up is a good way to get into Dec/Jan with backups in the backfield. K9 has been looking like he's an RB in September.

This. Made huge difference. Walker is doing less lateral BS.

That was my biggest ‘complaint’ about K9. I get it…trying to thread a needle when there’s little to no daylight.

I love the way our RB room compliments one another. I think re-signing K9 is a huge priority.

Can’t forget KMac either. That dude was averaging damn near 5 yards a carry. I can’t really put a finger on ol boy. Fast as hell? No. Built like a tank/Marshawn style? No. He just gets yards…

Missing Charbs puts a real dent in our methods but the replacements are doing a commendable job. But I sure wish Charbs was available for the biggest game there is in a football season. I think the improvement shown by our Offensive line has to be thanked for a good deal of our late season success running the ball.

Answer for each interview question for new RB coach.

State your full name:
‘Hit the hole’

What’s your philosophy pertaining to the run game?
‘Hit the hole’

How does your philosophy fit in our scheme?
‘Hit the hole’

Mr. Hit the hole, you’re hired.

LOL, you got me thinking of an old movie quote from gary busey. "When you want to insert a nail into a piece of wood, don't do anything fancy or glamorous. Just take the damn hammer and hit the son of a bitch until it's in."

To me there is such a lot of patent negativity within this thread. The team still has it’s very strong core and several of the players that a few here are assuming are leaving were likely leaving anyway. Not all of them will be leaving possibly so it’s not dire as as some here are suggesting.

I’m just not buying into the “Woe is us thinking”.

Let’s wait and see what FA actually brings, or the draft, or what trades JS can contrive. The team is well coached, well managed and has a strong cap position. I believe!

We need to not buy into the BS. I’m still very confident that the team will still be strong this upcoming season.

I feel like teams like to think they'll do RB by committee but rarely do other in the NFL. College more likely. We did it successfully last year and Detroit has but not sure of many others.

Seahawks have had tons of injuries at the position over the years, so a platoon makes the most sense. We're going to end up needing multiple RBs to carry the load anyway, so why not aim for 2 main guys who share carries automatically? When one gets injured you just increase reps for the other one + next man up. It also makes it easier to bring a rookie into the mix, which the Hawks probably need to do.

I really dislike RB by committee.... because, like anything, it's rhythm. You take them in and out, they never get rhythm. Look at K9 after Charbs injury.. he exploded and I think he was getting that rhythm.

12 game season you could have a bellcow back and he would normally last if not for the Knee Always the Knee as Cosell would say, but with 17 and the 18 game season coming soon you need two, people just can't take multiple poundings by 300 pounders and frieght train LB's at full speed and Safetys. Not a talent issue as much as phyical limits.

I also dislike the RBBC. They made it work, other teams have made it work. It just seems like a cowbell that gets the ball 20-25 times a game can hit his stride.

I'd love to see them find a 3 down back that can also block and catch decent enough. But I don't worry about it just what I'd like to see.

Do the math. 20 carries x 14 games was 280 carries many years ago.

20 carries x 16 games is 320 carries. 17 games is 340 carries. 25 carries is 25% higher rate.

Injury risk rises as the number of carries rises. Over years, RBs that had 320+ carries got injured a lot in the next season. One back just doesn't cut it.
