49ers were kind of a fluke this year. They didn't feel like a 12-win team.

I do think he is being contrarian but I also think people are vastly underestimating the Patriots around here.
Their D line is legitimately very good. Their secondary is as well. Linebackers are just ok.
Our D is better I think, and our O line might be marginally better too possibly.
Darnold has more experience and is playing far better than Maye and hopefully that continues.

Just talking about Seahawk fans in general. I love Mike, I know he and the team won't be underestimating the opponent.

It's just being realistic. The Rams were viewed all year as being the best team in the NFL. We beat them the last two times we played them. The NFC is just flat-out better than the AFC this year. So why wouldn't we be expected to win? But the question mark is how these two teams match up against each other. The Rams, even though they were the 2nd best (arguably, 1st) team in the NFL, matched up against us perfectly - way better than anyone else. And we still beat them twice. They matched up against us so well because of a 38 year old veteran qb who is likely to get the MVP, and a coach that might be the best in the NFL. The Patriots aren't either of those things.

I just heard on “The Herd”, Eric Mangini as the guest. Mangini said that all the Patriots have to do is double JSN, stuff the run, and it will cause Darnold to struggle.

Cowherd agreed 100%, said that Darnold will struggle and the Patriots will win 27-26, he said that too many people are overlooking the Patriots.

Both of them also said that our defense isn’t as good as advertised, especially in the secondary, and the Patriots receivers will have success, Maye will have a great game and win.

Thoughts? Does this mean we lose now?

I like listening to his show, but if you go back, week by week, and listen to his thoughts...he abandons some of them fairly quickly. Also, it took forever for him to buy into the Seahawks - dropping them in his 'Herd Hierarchy' from week to week, until the come-from-behind win against the Rams. And he was licking Dak Prescott's nuts for much of the season - lots of MVP talk. In the end, of course, Dak was Dak and Dallas was Dallas. All of that, yet he hangs onto the one thing he was right about before the season began: Patriots double their win total. At one point last week he said: "I don't think I had them in the Super Bowl". "I don't think"?!?! I record all this stuff, so I might go back and see what his thoughts were regarding Jalen Hurts, but there was a lot of MVP talk about him as well (from others), and now the talking heads are saying that he doesn't even have potential to be great in the future!!!
