I think the majority of us here saw this coming. Terribly unceremonious end to a pretty illustrious career. A lot of what I read here sounds right to me, about the game having passed him by some ways, and that his weaknesses as a coach/personnel guy got more exposed. Also, he wasn't brought in to do a rebuild, which is what they needed, and that's never been his mentality. You don't draft a RB that high and bring in an older Geno Smith when you're under construction in that way. He was brought in to re-establish a winning culture and mindset to the organization, and, unfortunately, that failed miserably.
I suspect that they'll be moving on from Geno as well at the appropriate time. He certainly doesn't have PC to act as his guardian there anymore. They'll probably want to bring in a younger offensive minded coach to develop the young QBOTF they will be drafting next spring. I suppose they could keep Geno around for another year so they don't have to throw their new young QB into the fire right away. But I personally don't see that happening.
Like many of us here, big gratitude to PC for what he brought to this franchise and all of us fans of the team.
