Welp....NFC West all come down to this. This is how it should be. Reminds me of 2019.

My guess? Honestly, I think Seattle takes it.

This was supposed to be a transition year for the 49ers. That D in particular has 1st and second year players all over the place (Collins, West, Stout, Winters, Mustafa, Green) and at times they look like 1st and 2nd year guys. Losing Warner AND Bosa has left them as an incredibly vulnerable defense. Niners are carrying like 90 mil in dead cap this year and that doesn't include Warner or Bosa. Niners are LAST in sacks and I believe takeaways.

....yet they just keep winning. I keep expecting the clock to strike midnight, but it just doesn't.

Brock been INSANE the last few weeks and CMC has come alive all of the sudden. CMC was getting so many yards just based on a ludicrous number of touches, but last two weeks he's looked like CMC of old. Can we put the Avengers argument to bed now RE Brock? No Deebo. No Aiyuk. No Kittle for 8 games or so. He lost Trent last night. Pearsall has missed several games. Yet here he is....10 total TDs in last 2 games.

That said, in my heart of hearts, I believe you need a good D to win a title. They just don't have it right now.

Good luck boys. Should be fun. No matter what happens, lets get out of this without any injuries.

Our offense has been making defenses look better than they are every week lately but our defense has just gotten better as the year has progressed.

I look at this game as strength vs strength and weakness vs weakness. Should be fun to watch.

The 49ers offense has been unbelievable in the last few games, scoring 37, 48 and 42 points against some good teams. It must be a relief to 49er fans to see that Brock Purdy was worth the contract, after all. I'm hoping that Macdonald will be able to slow down that offense enough to win.

He's got a history of doing so.

I never thought this would be the year after this offseason of blood-letting followed by so many injuries.

At this point I'm just enjoying the ride.

I think what they've proved is they can lose their stars on O and still have a great offense with Purdy. At some point the wheels will come off on CMC, but they can still be very good with a new generation of WRs.

IE, I think their window is open in near future even if I think the D is just WAY too porous right now.

I hate to admit it, but Shanny has yall offense absolutely humming right now. I'm jealous as a mfer. Thing is, I believe our MacDefense can actually slow it down to less than 3 TDs, which is a winnable game if Sam & KLINT can snort a line of smelling salts BEFORE opening kick instead of halftime. Needless to say that worries me for Saturday.

Good luck! Feels good to be back at/near the top of the league again w/ the 9ers!

You may not be wrong.

IMO Shanahan is the best playcaller in the NFL. However, there are just some guys he ends up always having trouble with. Jim Schwartz in Cleveland comes to mind immediately. Mike McDonald has been one as well, just over much shorter period of time.

I’m calling BS @Marvin49 , no need to be coy. You think the Niners are winning.

I just hope Kubiak attacks the Niners defense instead of trying too hard to coddle Darnold from making mistakes. I think we are going to need more than 20 points to beat the Niners. CMC and Purdy are playing really good football right now. If Kittle plays even close to his potential, it’s going to be a challenge.

My Niner disdain is Mariana Trench deep, but I have to hand it to the Niners coaching staff. Most teams would be struggling to even stay afloat with the injuries akin to what the Niners have had, yet the Niners are battling for a one seed.

I said this in a previous thread, but I have friends who are pretty fervent fans of the Niners, and even some of them are like “Who even are some of these guys?” when the defensive roll call appears on the tv broadcast.

I say what I think. Doesn't mean I'm always right.

I think the Seahawks should win this game. Purdy has been ludicrous lately, but he'll likely be playing Seattles pass rush without Trent Williams. Purdy has been excellent in escaping the rush (that the biggest difference between Purdy and Mac), but this may be a bit too much to ask.

The SF D hasn't been able to stop ANYONE. Phillip Rivers 120 vs Seattle, 277 vs SF, and 147 vs Jags. Spot the outlier.

They started the season relying on rookies and 2nd year players on defense and for the most part, many of them have played well (Alfred Collins, Upton Stout, Dee Winters, Mykel Williams before injury), but they still have young player lapses in bad times. Adding to that the loss of Bosa and Warner....its ugly.

They are by FAR last in the NFL in Sacks. IE, Darnold will have all day to sit in the pocket. Worse...they don't get takeaways.

This was never supposed to be "the year" for the 49ers. This was a transition year. They are carrying 90 mil in dead cap for releases/trades of players like Deebo, Leonard Floyd and Javon Hargrave. They NEVER got Aiyuk back and have been patchwork all year.

Bottom line, THEY AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE HERE.

They have gotten to this spot due to some OUTSTANDING coaching, a schedule that looked easy but was harder than people thought at the start of the year, some luck, and some backup players playing out of their minds in crucial games.

There were weeks where there was Mac jones back there throwing to WR 4 and 5. CMC will set an NFL record tonight for touches in a season. He carried them when they were hurt all over the roster. He was averaging 3.5 yards per carry for most of the year just pounding away at 8 and 9 man boxes. Now that average is climbing with Purdy back and teams focusing less on loading the box and forcing the QB to beat you.

I'm not being coy. As a roster, the Seahawks RIGHT NOW are better than the 49ers. I don't even think any of you disagree with me on that. I'm not blinded by loyalty.

We'll see what happens and of course if my Niners pull through I'll be pleasantly surprised, but I'm not blind to the cracks (or canyons) in the 49ers armor.

I'll say this tho....IF the Niners win a ring this year with THIS roster, its one of the single greatest HC performances in NFL history.

This, for the offense.

On defense, 3rd and 4th down especially, they gotta keep someone on Purdy. He will try to break the pocket and run on these downs.

And watch CMC on these option routes as well.

I hate being right sometimes. Sigh.

Gratz.

Niners just don't have the horses this year.

I thought they were gonna lose as I said but I KNEW it when they didn't have Trent OR Pearsall. There is no WR left who can create space.

Seahawks deserved this one. Score is much closer than the game was.

Take this with you; as well as the Hawks played, it was still tight. If the 9ers were remotely close to full strength, I dont think we win considering how many opportunities that were squandered. Heroic effort when the injuries are factored in. Good luck in the tournament.

Thanks...but doesn't help.

Injuries are always an issue for this team. Its uncanny.

Any chance the Niners had in this game likely died on the INT return vs the Bears when Trent pulled him hamstring. That replacement LT nearly got Brock killed tonight.

Injuries are a part of the game tho. Just frustrating to see them every damn year at the worst times.
