You think Chase would like to come on over here to have a small "chat" with the Seahawks Coaches? (ie Intel) ;)

Little Sean is hurt so bad. He's firing coaches after a loss he thought should have been a win. It's late in the year to be firing coaches. Hopefully this makes them worse on special teams.

Nothing says good leadership like scapegoating.
...and this is nothing like scapegoating. This is a ST coach wasting multiple opportunities to correct problems. It's not a 'good old boys' club with a 'just do your best' mantra. The team has moved on from multiple fan-favourite players who weren't getting it done, and coaches are held to the same high standard.

And firing someone right before Christmas is certainly ass maggot activities.
The NFL is a business and way too much money is at stake to let the time of year affect whether to let someone go or not. The NFL is not a charity, Christmas being nigh upon us should be, and is, irrelevant. Firing their ST coach doesn't feel like scapegoating or an inappropriate move to me.

It most likely *will* make them worse. It's not like the Rams have been settling for mediocrity in the McVay era, and this wasn't his first season with the team. It's doubtful their ST will be receiving better coaching. If the rams have another problem on ST this season the question will be "was it right to fire the ST coordinator late in the season?"

Devil’s advocate here.

Think about how many times over the last 10 or so years we were calling for something similar.

Sure many times it was in jest, but many times it wasn’t.

How much frustration have we suffered though because Pete WOULD NOT make a move like this?

Idk if this will help or hurt the Rams, but sometimes leadership just has to make a change.
I’m 50/50 on this particular situation but I certainly enjoy the fact that it appears the Seahawks forced his hand.

Eff the rams, and I now hope special teams loses the game for him again (should we meet again this season)

When you're 16 weeks into a season, and you fire a coach almost immediately after an emotionally charged loss to a division rival that would have all but guaranteed your team the #1 seed, it feels like scapegoating.

When your defense allows an opponent to overcome a 16 point deficit with 8 minutes left in the game, something that had only been done against your team once in franchise history, and in the process allows 24 points in the second half/OT (removed the special teams TD there of course), and also allows three 2 point conversions, and you give the special teams coach the boot, that feels like scapegoating.

When your offense has to punt 4 times in the 4th quarter, and even on the FG miss fails to get closer than a 48 yard attempt (makeable but challenging), and you fire your special teams coach, that feels like scapegoating.

When every unit on the team fails (despite 37 points for the offense, I'd argue that 4 punts in the 4th quarter qualifies as a failure for that unit), and you single out one unit, it's practically the definition of scapegoating.

To be clear, we don't know what conversations have been had over the year between McVay and their ST coach, since there have been multiple issues over the season. I'm not saying a coach shouldn't be held accountable for his unit's lack of performance. Under similar circumstance our offensive coach was fired last year....AFTER the season. Firing the ST coach now, under these circumstances, has the FEEL of scapegoating to an outside observer. It looks like McVay was so pissed about the loss that he just had to find someone to blame - and he picked the guy whose unit had one bad failure instead of the units that had multiple failures. Yep. Looks like scapegoating to me.
