They have 21 days from the day they designated him to return. That was Nov 26th, so they have until Dec 17, next Wednesday, to either add him to the active roster, or put him on season ending IR.

We have a very nice problem, that I’ve been wishing we were good enough to have for a long time. We are so flush with starting caliber players, and strong 2nd stringers, that we are running out of places to stash them.

So glad that our cupboards aren’t bare. It speaks to the quality of our front office, and our strength and conditioning staff.

They picked a really good time to designate him to return. If he is going to make an impact on our playoff hunt and run, this is the time to figure that out.

We are so damn healthy, that we don’t have a lot of wiggle room on our players who are returning from IR. That can change in the blink of an eye.

I'm not a big fan of drafting injured players, but I had no issues with this pick. It's definitely a boom-or-bust pick, though. Either he gets healthy and performs better than his draft slot, or he battles injuries and doesn't reach his potential.

With the current health and rotation of the D line, I'd be in favor of keeping him on IR for the rest of the year. There's a big difference between college strength and NFL strength. Let him get stronger, continue to refine his moves, hand placement and leverage, and get more comfortable with the system MM runs.

Excited!
Lots of negative voices saying he should have been kept on the shelf this year but let’s just see what he does when he gets on the field.

To be fair I’ve said many times we shouldn’t bring him back before he’s ready but obviously I don’t get to see him practice. Coaches have seen him and brought him back so I’m happy for it and for him. I’m mostly happy we didn’t have to lose any other defenders to get him on the roster.

If he plays in this game, I will be most interested to see how he does.

BTW, what # is he wearing?

Wasn’t aimed at you Kidhawk. I meant more in general the general vibe has been we should sit him.
None of us see practise and all the meeting room stuff so we just trust the coaches and keep our fingers crossed they make the right calls. Not having to lose a Morris or Ivey right now is a massive plus.

It’s cool. I don’t take it personally or anything, just wanted to give my thoughts on why I wasn’t as high on rushing him back. Still amped to see what he can add.

This makes zero sense. Why waste a roster spot for him if he isn’t going to play? He has all off season to work with the team for next year. The only logical reason to activate him this week is for him to get some game reps. I would guess he’d be very limited but this “hawkblogger” has me confused. He’s been practicing with the team and could continue to do so until next Wednesday before we needed to make a decision.

Guess we'll find out tomorrow. I am curious if active how many snaps he'd get. Depends on how the game is going I guess

It's only his opinion but he does have Media credentials, though.

Brian Nemhauser does know his sh*t so he's not exactly talking out of his ass either when he says something regarding the team.

But yeah...we'll have the final answer come game-time.

I think it might be what you said regarding "Game reps" in that Rylie will be given very limited ones...maybe if we get extended garbage time in this one (in the 2nd half), he gets to come in and contribute....

Practice squad players practice with the team every week. There might be changes of emphasis, of course. You don't need to elevate someone so they can practice.
