Right. The most pressures by any team since ESPN started keeping that stat in 2009. Add that to the method/process that MM is fostering, aka, rush not as 4 individuals, but as ONE unit, plus the rotation protocol and you get unprecedented pressure. Don't think for a second that Stafford will be comfy back there Sunday.
Also, the Seahawks have figured out that you do not want divas in the locker room. That is where bringing in DLawrence, instead of, say, a Micah Parsons makes a lot of sense. There's no "I" in team, baby. LFG!!!

Been saying for a while now that pressures are almost as good as sacks. Disrupt the QB, get into his head, and force him into making more risky and desperation throws that can lead to turnovers. Sacks are sexy, and they add to your fantasy FB points, but even if you don't put him on the ground you can definitely influence a QB just by getting close and bumping into him after he throws.
Fact, pressure led to at least two of Darnold's turnovers. Probably more, I guess, but the one in SF where the DE pushed the TE into Sam and knocked the ball loose and the TE helmet deflection come to mind.
Need to see a lot of that come Sunday.

Stafford ain’t no spring chicken, I am truly worried about him come Sunday.
The way we’ve been harassing the QB, I don’t see him making it the whole game.
Is Jimmy G the next man up??

Most of the analysis here is really good stuff and it’s nice to see some props towards the way John has built the team. The only corrections I’d make are that he said we only lead the division due to the fact that they have a division loss that we don’t have when it’s actually that we have an extra win (2-1 vs 1-1). The other is the running game stats. He’s talking about us running on 51% of the plays but I believe that stat is a bit bloated due to the fact that we ran on nearly every down of the second half Sunday. The points he makes about the run game though are something that needs to be shouted from the top of every stadium. You have to run the ball fame in and game out to have a good passing game in the long run. If not teams will key in on it. It doesn’t have to be pretty it just has to keep defenses honest. All in all great stuff that really isn’t talked about enough.
Watched this last night and thought Wingo did a decent job. Told a pretty accurate story with data. Love those pieces.

This is an excellent post. I have said the same thing for years. If you can’t get sacks get pressure. For sure sacks are sexier and maybe that’s because they often create turnover opportunities. If not rub that opposing QB roughly assuoften as you can. That makes him aware of you and causes him to be alert to that pressure as it is uncomfortable, he then needs to scheme to avoid the pressure.
To me football is simply about creating reasons for a W. The team has some guys who can get home with the pass rush which presents complications for opposing O’s and runs enough on O to make the opposing D have to respect the run which helps play action for the QB. The former and the later are underlying reasons for the creation of W’s.
MM is a creative defensive wizard he will have an interesting da with mcVey this Sunday. Let’s hope our Guys can bring that pressure effectively against Stafford.
