He would have whined no matter what I said. It's what he does. He's a laugh react warrior who stalks my posts and it gets annoying. I don't even know what the hell "apology" he's talking about, but whatever. I told myself I wouldn't engage him anymore, so that's a failure on my part.

Like I said, Murphy was fantastic today. The entire DL feasted; it was great. He has been inconsistent this season IMO, but that's not unusual for a young player either. If he keeps this up, I'm more than happy to admit I judged him too harshly too quickly. I have admitted being wrong about a number of players over the years, both from liking them too much, and from not liking them enough. I called AJ Barner a stupid pick last season, and am happy eating that crow. He's a beast, and the front office deserves enormous credit for seeing something beyond what he showed in college.

Expecting anyone to jump from one extreme to the other after one game is unreasonable. Murphy took a huge leap today in proving me wrong. If you need more than that, I don't know what to tell you.
You are completely incapable of admitting being wrong. That is a really major issue you should go get help for.

I never called him a bust, it was just that he was much hyped, and he was a rookie playing like most rookies. He has definitely taken a couple steps forward. I think D Law had a lot to do with the success of the D line today. He adds a special spice to the D.

What is this??😂😂😂

He has been more than fantastic then just today. Before this game he was tenth in the league in pressures. First amount DTs. The second amongst DT came in at 17th overall in pressures. A lot of Murphy’s great work goes unnoticed by the fans.

People just expect too much instant gratification from a player from the get go. They don’t understand that it takes time to develop player

People just like to call out players

I was extremely happy we drafted him
Never had an issue with his play as a rookie
I am enjoying watching him learn his craft
My favorite line: I blame fantasy football.

Yes, expectations were too high for Murph in his rookie year. I for one, never really worried because I don't expect a lot from rookies, especially linemen. Very few rookies do that well, but the signs were there. He had a few great and almost great plays along the way, indicating that with some experience and coaching he could develop into something pretty good, if not great.

Even now, it has only been 6 games into his 2nd season. Teams will now try to focus and isolate him, so the next stage starts now. How does he do when other teams start to focus on taking him out of games by scheming around him. He's doing well, we'll see how far he can go and how much he can achieve. It certainly helps that he is in a position group with pretty good depth.

Didn't think he was good at all last week. He's had two where he very much stood out positively to me though. I hope we get to the end of the season, and he has stuck out in many more. Big Cat probably doesn't have too much longer before the wall hits, and Reed has hung around admirably, for longer than I would have expected, but he's getting there also. The iDL will likely need to be addressed in the offseason regardless of how well Murphy finishes.

Leanord Williams wasn't good last week either does that make him a bust? Your viewing him through an extremely negative lens where whenever he isn't awesome you think he isn't good. No defensive lineman dominates game in game out play in play out its not possible.

Williams has been consistently excellent for years. If Murphy had that kind of track record, I sure as hell wouldn't still need to see more to be as bullish on his future as some of you are.

I think people are just happy to see him doing well out there. I've never claimed he was the next coming of Aaron Donald nor thought that he was. You however kept insisting he is crap. Which he clearly isn't and quite frankly wasn't last year either.

Two things can be true at the same time

He was mediocre and overrated last year

He is great now
incorrect. Objectively and statistically untrue. He was a HUGE reason why we, overnight, got stout against the run. He had very solid numbers, not a lot of sacks but lots of pressures and great in run defense.

I'm trying to figure when people started thinking rookies were going to come in and be stars their first year in the league and why. Weird anyone would think that, unless that rookie was prime time, or Barry Sanders or Bo Jackson type talent. Hell even Jerry rice wasnt jerry rice until what year 3, 4? 🤦

JSN was ok his rookie year but it took him till this year to truly become great. We definitely need to give them a little more time for sure.

I agree with @Rat . Murphy had a good game today. It doesn't mean he's a superstar. He's still a work in progress. I hope he keeps getting better.

I don't see why a good game by one player turns into "I was right and you were wrong."

#1 No one said he is a superstar yet.
#2 He has had more than one good game
#3 He leads the team in sacks as an inside D lineman that's really tough to do

He certainly isn't a bust and that's my point. I think its very easy to see he most definitely was wrong about that.

Ok about this. It's ridiculous to label a guy a bust during or just after his first year?
