If I had to guess, I'd say that we'll start Bryce Miller on 4 days' rest, but I wouldn't be shocked to see Wilson roll the dice and hand the ball to Bryan Woo. It would be the perfect place for him to come to the rescue, with the pitching staff being stressed over the course of a 15-inning game and a long flight to the next venue. Emerson Hancock is another option.Feel like i just went 15 rounds with mike tyson. Can't believe they play on Sunday again. Who do they even pitch? Woo?
Not at all bummed. Here on the east coast, glad I retired for the night in the 12th and got to wake up to tons of delicious media which I'm now savoring over coffee. There is puhLENTY of media available. Sweet way to start my morning! Thanks for staying awake with me. A few people are gonna be bummed they missed it.
All told, the teams used five accomplished starters in the game: George Kirby, Gilbert and Castillo for the Mariners, plus Skubal and Flaherty for the Tigers. That quartet includes four All-Stars and five pitchers who have received Cy Young Award votes, including 2024 AL winner Skubal.
Then there’s Troy Melton, a Tigers rookie who both started and relieved this year. He started Game 1 for the Tigers and then added a scoreless relief inning in Game 5, bringing the total to four pitchers who appeared out of the bullpen on Friday after starting a game earlier in the series.
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, that had not happened in the postseason since Game 7 of the 1952 World Series, when the Yankees (Allie Reynolds, Vic Raschi) beat the Dodgers (Preacher Roe, Carl Erskine).
