Going into a playoff series without your best starting pitcher and one of your best hitters is definitely reason for concern. Of course we can still beat them, but this isn't ideal.

There is definitely a scenario where we lose this series without Woo and Naylor. Yes we should win, but the margin between these two teams is much closer now.

You realize the post I was responding to simply stated "it's over", right? Sorry, but I'm not going to concede defeat before the first pitch is even thrown because we're missing a couple guys that didn't even play when we swept Detroit.

Of course there are reasons for concern. There almost always are. I'm sure Detroit has reasons for concern as well. Such as, they have to go to Seattle to face a Mariners team that has the 2nd best home record in the AL.

Of course I'd prefer to have Woo and Naylor playing, but we absolutely can win this series without those guys just like we did the last time we played Detroit.

The more I look into today's game, it's basically a must win. We can't lose HFA and be down 0-1 facing Skubal in game 2.

It would be a lot to overcome needing to win 3 of the next 4 games, two of those against Skubal. Oh the pressure of playoff baseball. As much as I'm enjoying this all, I do enjoy my relaxed Octobers.

You could make similar arguments for why it would be pretty devastating for Detroit to lose this game too (except the HFA part, obviously).

If they lose today, they'll be facing Castillo in Seattle tomorrow, who has been dominant at home this season. If they don't win that one, they'll be heading back home down 0-2 and needing to win the next 3 in a row and facing elimination each game, which also puts a lot of pressure on a team when there is no room for error.

Cubs will get 3 game swept by the Brew crew. Yeah Go Jays today. Smart move to go with Kirby tonight for the M’s I just think the better ball club will win a 5 game set most of the time.

Just now leaving for the game. Will be there today and tomorrow. Let's freaking GO MARINERS!!!
Nice I'm going tomorrow, I think if we can get to 3 or 4 runs in either game we should be able to win.

Not great Kirby (54 pitches in 3 innings, four baserunners), but very good Kirby (6 K's to get him out of jams).

Let's get some effing runs now!

What a piss off. He doesn't get the third strike call, and the next pitch a two run homer.

Ump has been all over the place. Technically that pitch before the HR was a ball, but the ump literally called the previous pitch a strike and it was in the same spot.

I'm mad now. I want a big inning, and sooner rather than later.

Mariner hitters aren't even making these pitchers work. Just flailing at everything.

Pretty much all my worries are surfacing. The layoff wasn’t good for the bats. Baseball players are very routine, taking a week off is not normal, especially right before you play the most important games of the season.

And 100% all the pressure was on us to win this game. They’re okay dropping it because they get Skubal tomorrow. If we go down 0-1 our chances aren’t great.
