He tore is ACL during the playoffs last season, not sure he sees the field this year. But, I also don't know the severity of said tear. Not banking on him coming back anytime soon though.

Stoked he's waiting in the wings though, he looks like a potential force on the DL.

Everything I’ve found says he could play by like week 3-4ish I think, hard to find good stuff without having to subscribe to some newspaper in chicago

I'm not positive about the IR rules but I think they can designate only 2 players to return from IR. I think they would save it for some veteran who gets hurt in season rather than a rookie who has missed all practices and training camp. If he's on IR when the season starts, I doubt he plays this season.

IIRC, Jordyn Brooks tore his ACL in December one season, and was ready by the time the next season started. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that Mills is back earlier than we expect. Which I hope so, cause I have a good feeling about him, especially when he's paired with Murphy.

Yeah, all injuries are individual, but nowadays an ACL is more of a 1 year injury where it used to be 18 months to 2 years normal. They're maybe not fully healed after one year, but many guys can start playing then, though maybe at 75% or so.

Teams can now return 8 players from IR during the season, plus an additional 2 during the post-season. A great, long overdue change for the NFL.

Players on IR must miss at least four games. If he isn’t activated before the season starts, we won’t see him until week five, at the earliest.

Given the IR designation before the start of the season, he can remain on IR for the entire season, if necessary.

Players on IR do not count against the 53-man roster limit, but their salaries are subtracted from available cap space. Not a big consideration, given his draft position.

Suspect Rylie Mills will be placed on IR for the whole season and thus get a redshirt year. Meanwhile he'll learn from meetings, film study, get a whole lot stronger, and also learn from what every practice he can squeeze in or watch before the season ends.

Think we will eventually be very happy with this draft pick.

I hope he’s a quick healer and we see him before the end of the season but the injury for his size and position usually takes a bit longer so the team can be sure he’s completely better.

Was psyched by his selection and think JS was pleased at being able to get him so late I was for sure. He’s a talented DT. The young talent on the team is starting get deeper. Now for an edge rusher or two.

I think he plays this season and someone goes, just a feeling.
I saw him enough to know he's ready to play at this level but
it's a matter of being in good enough shape after injury and if
he plays it might be limited snaps early on, it won't take him
long to make his impact felt.

He is in Non-Football injury status --- which means unless he's activated before week one, he'll be out at least 6 weeks and then may have a chance to come back after that. The team will weigh his recovery and also the depth on the roster at the time. If there are injuries in the interior of the defensive line, that may give more chance for him to come back if healthy.

It's along season.
