Someone mentioned in the game chat last night that there were no long pass attempts to be seen. The longest pass play for us was 25 yards, and part of that was run after the catch. I know some people will say that's boring.....but winning is never boring. I don't care if they emulate Ground Chuck for 4.5 yards per play, every play, if it wins games. And all of this emphasis on the shorter passing game and the run will open up the long pass when there IS an opportunity....without having to force it.

I'm not sure anyone is going to open their playbook and show their explosive routes in the preseason. Just vanilla concepts.

Preseason is about watching the matchups and execution of the little things rather than critiquing play calling and game planning.

I’m loving what I’ve been seeing but it’s still preseason and will refrain my excitement and just wait and see. Despite being preseason, I haven’t seen holes like that since the Knox and Holmgren era. The offense line play looks to have a ton of promise. Keeping fingers crossed

I often wonder what would have happened if we had a different QB during our SB years. I am pretty sure we could have won our SB with a different QB and who knows, we might have won more if we did not have to appease the fragile ego of Russell.
Yes he was spectacular but part of it was that we did not do anything in the first three quarters (you cannot win in the first three quarters my ass - with that defense, if you had a QB that put up 10 points in the first half you were almost guaranteed a win).
I will admit, I did enjoy it at the time; it was spectacular when it worked but once the league figured it out, it was all over. We had a coach that believed we still had the LOB and refused to draft OL (not that it would have helped too much, because with a one read and then scramble QB you can have the best OL but it is all for naught).

Are the days of long developing plays from shotgun over? I hope so.

This. It's amazing what decent play calling, not passing 80 percent of the time, and an attacking run game can do for an o line.

They looked prepared and dominant.

However, weren’t they playing against most of the Chiefs 2nd stringers? Chris Jones wasn’t out there.

I’m hesitant to get excited about this until they perform like that against a legit starting unit.

The Chiefs had 7 starters on Defense so it wasn't like it was primarily 2nd stringers.

That made the opening drive by Darnold, Charbonet, and the OL look even better....'cause they f*cking dogwalked that Chiefs D down the field like they weren't there.

Valid point, plus we don't know what the Chiefs were prepping for or scheming against.

However, the consistancy is what impresses me, and many pundits as well. That's two games in a row where they blocked well and ran well. Both games over 150 yards rushing IIRC, and 268 yards last night. That kind of performance, even against scrubs, gives the O-line confidence and practice.

Maybe....just maybe...they thought they were dealing with another Grubb offense again and forgot that Grubb is gone and we have Kubiak now.....

It's always better to look good and win than it is to do the opposite, and I share the optimism of others that this season is going to be different, particularly on offense. It was nice to see such an effective running attack even in a game that doesn't count.

But I am intentionally bridling my optimism. This is the preseason, and the priority for teams isn't winning, it's evaluating their players. They do not scheme, there's very little blitzing, not a lot of stunting, pretty basic stuff both on offense as well as defense.

Lock and our backups also moved the ball on Crosby and the raiders starters. The OL has looked legit 2 weeks in a row.

I think they’re sticking with high percentage pass plays, not low percentage hero ball

And having a borderline bust dictate what formation he is willing to run .
