Yeah, well if the starter is losing the game after 4.2 innings or so, what are you gonna do? Let him get shelled and lose a game to "protect" the bullpen?

Perhaps managing a ball team is harder than some people think.

I'm not expecting the Yankees to do us any favors. They're 8-11 since the break, and 1-5 in their last 2 series.

I have a nitpick that I could be off base on, and b*tch slap me if you think so. I'm a little befuddled by Wilson's/pitching coach's decision making as concerns our bullpen's usage at times. It hasn't really hurt since the break. We're winning. But I didn't quite understand why he went with Leggy over Fergie to start the 10th inning in that Saturday loss to the Rangers. I also wondered at times why he was so quick to pull a reliever who was doing well/okay at the time and run through our bullpen so fast, as if a reliever wasn't capable of throwing more than an inning in a tight game? There were a couple of instances I recalled of this the past week.

I don't know. I'm no expert. Maybe they're still trying to figure out all the right situational roles for our relievers, how to get the most out of what they've got. Just spit-balling here. LOL

Yeah, I agree and get you. As for the Yanks, I was only going on the stat that the Yankees play a lot better at home than on the road, Judge is back, and they've shored up their pen quite a bit at the deadline. That's all.

Leading 2-1 while only giving up 2 hits and 1 run over 5 innings doesn't count as "losing the game" to me. He pulled Gilbert early yesterday and has done this throughout this season. It's my only knock on Wilson. Maybe, I'm just used to the older era of pitching when starting pitchers actually went 7+ innings on a regular basis.
