Yeah, well if the starter is losing the game after 4.2 innings or so, what are you gonna do? Let him get shelled and lose a game to "protect" the bullpen?Hopefully, Wilson keeps his starter in the game for longer than 5 innings. The bullpen is not as strong as it used to be, but Wilson hasn't helped their cause by overusing them.
Hmm...
Astros @ Yankees
Phillies @ Rangers
Rays @ Mariners
...advantage M's this weekend.
Let's keep up the mojo and win this series. We might even pick up a game on one or both of these teams. 8-2 would be a pretty impressive homestand if we can get two out of three from the Rays.
I have a nitpick that I could be off base on, and b*tch slap me if you think so. I'm a little befuddled by Wilson's/pitching coach's decision making as concerns our bullpen's usage at times. It hasn't really hurt since the break. We're winning. But I didn't quite understand why he went with Leggy over Fergie to start the 10th inning in that Saturday loss to the Rangers. I also wondered at times why he was so quick to pull a reliever who was doing well/okay at the time and run through our bullpen so fast, as if a reliever wasn't capable of throwing more than an inning in a tight game? There were a couple of instances I recalled of this the past week.Hopefully, Wilson keeps his starter in the game for longer than 5 innings. The bullpen is not as strong as it used to be, but Wilson hasn't helped their cause by overusing them.
Yeah, I agree and get you. As for the Yanks, I was only going on the stat that the Yankees play a lot better at home than on the road, Judge is back, and they've shored up their pen quite a bit at the deadline. That's all.I'm not expecting the Yankees to do us any favors. They're 8-11 since the break, and 1-5 in their last 2 series.
But yeah. If the M's can win this series, an 8-2 home stand would be phenomenal. I don't care who the opponents are, that's tough to do.
Leading 2-1 while only giving up 2 hits and 1 run over 5 innings doesn't count as "losing the game" to me. He pulled Gilbert early yesterday and has done this throughout this season. It's my only knock on Wilson. Maybe, I'm just used to the older era of pitching when starting pitchers actually went 7+ innings on a regular basis.Yeah, well if the starter is losing the game after 4.2 innings or so, what are you gonna do? Let him get shelled and lose a game to "protect" the bullpen?
Perhaps managing a ball team is harder than some people think.
Yeah he lost a little concentration when he did the unnecessary jumpCandzone makes a cool and weird catch, gets reversed, next pitch goes out the park. Not great.
Yes, jump was very unnecessary.Yeah he lost a little concentration when he did the unnecessary jump
Another goofball Starting Pitcher who doesn't have good enough mechanics or whatever to throw from some sort of wind-up with nobody on baseRasmussen is 9-5, having a really good year
