Count me among those who didn't know much about Naylor other than his stat lines. Agree with what most are saying about him here, now that I've gotten a closer look at him. We've been in need of that smart, consistent, contact hitter in our lineup for awhile. There've been too many innings where we couldn't scratch out that needed run or two. As much as I like Geno, Naylor is the guy I want them to concentrate on resigning. If he would want to continue playing here, the M's better not let money become the reason he doesn't.

Me too, didn't know much about him. He's been better than advertised. Suarez got more hype, but I don't think it's even close if you were to compare the two. Naylor is just different. He's a difference maker who leads by example. He's in his prime. Pay the man, now.

I doubt that Naylor would sign an extension now. He's going to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. He would be a fool to sign something now before testing the waters. There is going to be a big market for Naylor this off season. Last year, he hit 31 HRs and had 102 RBIs. In 2023, he hit .308 and had an OPS of .842.

There's going to be a lot of competition for Naylor, and he's going to get a big payday. That's the reason Cleveland traded him during this last off-season, and why Arizona traded him just now. And bad news: the Yankees will be in the market for a first baseman this off-season as Paul Goldschmidt will be 38 next year, and is already past his prime (and not under contract after this year).

I have been whining about Seattle not trading for or signing Naylor for the last 3 years. He is an organizational piece. Meaning he is someone that makes everyone around him better. I really don't care what it costs to sign him long term in Seattle, (it's not my money) but it needs to be done by the end of September. All of the Mariners can learn from him. Get it done Jerry and Justin!

It’s crazy how you can see how good he is. Not sure I knew what a great hitter really looked like before this. It’s been a long time since we have had a hitter like him. Like Nelson Cruz? I think Naylor is overall even better than Nelly, kinda hard to find a comp from former mariners. I put Edgar and Griffey ahead of him. Ichiro too, hmmm
