No starters in preseason opener​

Macdonald stated what was becoming obvious: Seahawks starters will not play Thursday in the first preseason game when Pete Carroll’s and Geno Smith’s Las Vega Raiders come to Lumen Field.

Agreed. The conventional wisdom is that OL takes time to gel. This is an opportunity to get that process started. Obviously not the entire game, but at least a couple drives.

Look at it however you wish. Even if no "starters" play it could very well be true that a number who play will become starters.

The only reason why starters would play would be to get game action. Other than that, the coaches already know them so getting the non-starters in there is even more important

Game 2 in preseason is when starters see most action but it’s only for a series or 2. Be nice to spoil Pete’s return and sack Geno and watch him get mad but it’s preseason. We got bigger fish to fry at a later date. We need Walker healthy for at least a little longer than the first couple of games this year. He’s an injured beyotch most of the time let’s hope he rights the ship this year. . Charbs is always ready

To be honest...if it was me. There are now just 3 preseason games. I would play the brand new offense all three games. They need reps going into the season or else we are gonna see a bunch of slop first 4 games. First drives whateva.. if k9 gets hurt? It was gonna happen anyway.

It's probably bad form. What is the over and under for games k9 plays this year? I say 3.
