Yeah, what a trip. Don't see a ton of trades like this. Very interesting that he's going back to Miami. Steelers add another drama boy, I wish they were on Hard Knocks this year.

Jonnu Smith had a very nice season last year. I'm confused Fitzpatrick would go back to Miami as he forced his way out but times have changed. Miami got the best player of the deal at this stage of their careers.

Ramsey and DK are gonna have some nice battles in training camp.

The Stealers have been making some dumb moves in recent years. From ME3, to Erin, to trading a damn good player in Fitz for a drama queen whose best years are behind him. Still, they probably have just enough overall talent for Tomlin to eek out a 2nd place finish and a wildcard round exit. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Ramsey definitely got the better of DK…DK can’t say much.

Wow, the Steelers got the best of that trade. The Dolphins had to do something with Jonnu Smith and Jalen Ramsey both wanting out, but they didn't get much in return. Minkah Fitzpatrick hasn't been great recently.

Meanwhile, both Smith and Ramsey both had great seasons last year, but Ramsey is expensive, and Smith wants a new deal. So it's going to put the Steelers up against the cap.

I suspect that was the best deal the Dolphins could get, with teams knowing that Smith and Ramsey wanted out of Miami.

Steelers now have Joey Porter and Jalen Ramsey at the corners, with Darius Slay, too. And they give Rodgers another target with Jonnu Smith.

Minkah was such a Steeler/Tomlin-like player. That's the first thing that hit me. They certainly are doing a lot of un-Steeler-like things recently, as many people have pointed out. It remains to be seen if these moves amount to enough of a short time improvement that actually nets them a playoff win or two. They're definitely one of the noisier teams from a roster perspective than you might have ever thought they'd be. Something's coming to a head in Pittsburgh. They'll be interesting to watch next season.

For a long time, the Steelers didn't make splashy moves in the off-season. It wasn't their way. But I think the Steelers have learned that you can't just rely on home-grown talent in this day and age. Even the top teams are active in the trade and free agent market to solidify their rosters and get better in any way they can.

Fitzpatrick was good for the Steelers for a while, but he's been average, or worse, more recently. He was the 44th ranked safety last year on PFF. In addition to that, they had to get rid of his big contract to take on Ramsey and Smith.

I like Ramsey as a player, but his value is diminishing. I watch a lot of Dolphins games and his play in 2024 makes me think he's a $8-16M player going forward. His contract made him a net negative value trade piece. If the Rams had swapped 7th round picks with the Dolphins and the Dolphins had eaten another $5M of the $21M he's still owed for 2025...well...I wouldn't have been happy. It would be a contract he wouldn't out-perform and wasting cash/cap resources makes it harder to compete past the short-term.

If the Steelers aren't all-in for 2025 then I don't know what they're thinking. Ramsey is a net negative so either Smith is a positive, Fitzpatrick was a negative, and it all washes out or this is a bad move for them. I don't expect Ramsey to be retained at $21M in 2026.

It's a good trade for the Dolphins, not that it'll make much difference to their 2025 season. Just an opinion.
