I was high on him but he's far from being close to any great Ms hittersHe drives me crazy too, but the hate is ridiculous. Oh well, not gonna' change.
I don't think anyone hates him, but when you get that type of contract you should not go in the hole especially at his age. What bugs me about him is his silliness at times. Having fun while winning is great, but when he is always joking with the other team during games while they lose pisses me off. A few weeks back he made the 2nd out I believe in the 9th of a 1 run game and his slaps the opposing pitcher in the ass and has a good laugh with him. That is no leader and if you get the big money you better be a leader. I only got to junior college in sports (basketball), but I was intense because I hated to lose. I was always the underdog at 6' and playing center in high school guarding guys 6'3"-6'9", but I fought. I know everybody is different, but I never had respect for the everybody is my friend players. He drives me crazy too, but the hate is ridiculous. Oh well, not gonna' change.
ANOTHER prime example of what you see everyday with your own eyes being more realistic than that goofy WAR stat. It's funny people crying about Julio but he's on pace to have the best season of his career via WAR...

I used to be guilty of believing in WAR as the bible of rating players but I have seen too many of these high ratings for guys I watch and them not matching the eye test.ANOTHER prime example of what you see everyday with your own eyes being more realistic than that goofy WAR stat.
Well hating him is unfortunate. I hate how he is playing, but not the person himself. Like I said above, I just wish he had a little more fight in him. At least show it. Leadership matters. I bought a ton of his cards a couple years back so i need to to get his groove back. LOL.Come on man, people legit hate the guy, it's odd. Then again, oh well. I'm a Julio fan, and I want a lot more from him.
I'm just glad I ignored a certain member. It has helped a lot. And he pissed me off, a LOT. That's baseball.
We will have to respectfully disagree on that one. He wants to be loved by all and that doesn't win games. He has plenty of fight
More an example of people only looking at offense and not accounting for defense as well. If you read the article, no one is saying he's hitting the cover off the ball. But those that use their eyeballs to watch him play CF can see he's one of the best defensive CF in the game. If you can't see that you're blind.ANOTHER prime example of what you see everyday with your own eyes being more realistic than that goofy WAR stat.
They didn't sign him to a $300mil extension for his DEFENSE. And NOBODY gets huge $ for their DEFENSE. Was Devers acquired by SF for his DEFENSE? Nope. Did Boston sign him to that extension for his DEFENSE? Nope. What about guys like Ohtani, Judge & Soto? Is anybody clamoring to get these guys for their DEFENSE? Nope.More an example of people only looking at offense and not accounting for defense as well. If you read the article, no one is saying he's hitting the cover off the ball. First of all if you're going to try to make a point and be taken seriously have your numbers right. He signed a 12 year 209m extension. He averages about 17.5m per year over that contract. They didn't sign him to a $300mil extension for his DEFENSE. And NOBODY gets huge $ for their DEFENSE. Was Devers acquired by SF for his DEFENSE? Trident to you on that one.And there you go. Julio put one in the seats for you as an explanation point![]()
Do you mean EXCLAMATION point? Not explaination. And there you go. Julio put one in the seats for you as an explanation point![]()
Yup, you got the pointDo you mean EXCLAMATION point? Not explaination.
Matt Chapman? That guy was extremely overpaid. No my PROBLEM with Foolio & the DUMBASS MARINERS is..... They parade him around as if he the franchise & therefore not only can he do no wrong, but it gives them the excuse to NOT add real talent around him. They're trying to be cheap. I get it, your're in love with him & will defend him endlessly for whatever bizarre reason. The bottom line is, he isn't the #3 hitting franchise star that the organization is hyping him up to be. He's just not. He's clearly regressing offensively. Foolio as the franchise player has got the Mariners what every year at the trade deadline? A record around .500 & everyone wondering how DiBozo is gonna screw it up more by "buying" bums or his famous "buy/sell" approaches with Sewald & Graveman that pissed EVERYONE off. If they want to get some real offensive talent & move him to 5-6, no problem. He's not a #2 & definitely not a #3 hitter. I don't compare him to superstars or claim he IS one..... The Seattle Mariners & this goofy Seattle Media do. As long as the M's have their SUPERSTAR already, don't expect another one or a real one.First of all if you're going to try to make a point and be taken seriously have your numbers right. Julio contract
That's no where near guys like Ohtani, Judge, or Soto's contract. But you expect the same production. Come on man, talk about being silly...
And yeah, guys do get paid on their defense. Matt Chapman makes 25m per year. His batting numbers aren't all that different than Julio, he's always been a defensive star though.
No one is saying Julio is hitting his potential at the plate right now, but you're acting like he's a scrub. Frustrating sure, but not a scrub. He's above average bat at CF so far with elite defense. He's getting paid pretty much exactly where you'd pay that type of player. Not like the superstars you're trying to compare him to.
You argue like a 12 year old. I gave you straight facts and you come back with stuff like you love him and will defend him blah blah blah. Then you bring up a bunch of straw man arguments to try to make your point. You do you man. You clearly just hate the guy for whatever reason and no amount of facts or explanation will do for you because you can't admit to being wrong. Bottom line is Julio is one of the best CF in the game and is paid fairly. Not over paid, or paid like some superstar like you act. If you expected him to be Ken Griffey Jr. That's on you not anyone else. I've been just as critical of the FO and ownership as anyone on here. And I've even criticizee Julio and even in this conversation have admitted to him being frustrating up at the plate, but I'm also not ignoring the facts that his production is a plus to the team overall and he's a good player with even great potential if he ever realizes it.Matt Chapman?
