He’s terrible. He started the off-season $20M over the cap, with an aging QB, and a talented but mercurial WR. And by June, every position group on the team is better (save WR), the burgeoning D returns every starter and gains a well regarded DE and the freakiest athlete in a decade, the new coach has 90 of 90 at voluntary workouts, and the team is now sitting on $31M in cap. I can’t for the life of me understand why he still has a job. 🤦

To me, JS and MM are joined at the hip. MM got the team to within a tiebreaker of the division title using a team built by JS primarily without MM's input (he had a couple of months between his hiring and the draft, so probably a bit of input there). Schneider hired Macdonald so to a degree his ability to evaluate coaching talent is being tested.

The team moved a step forward last year with the pair of them at the helm. Thumbs up. The offseason has been a solid one. Two thumbs up. If the team takes another step forward this year, then I can't conceive of a reason that Schneider would be fired. What mistake has he made since Macdonald's hiring that would lead anyone to believe he should be? You could point to the lack of attention to the OL last year, something that has been addressed this year. What else?
I feel like the tried to cheaply address the line a little bit with the guards they drafted.

JS and MM are both in the same boat and I think they will succeed.
Contrary to what some have implied in the past JS is not tied to Darnold.

I don't think it would be unreasonable to fire him if we miss the playoffs again, but i feel that JS and MM's fates are tied.
If the Hawks got rid of Schneider then the new President/GM/whatever would probably want to pick their own coach.
Similarly if the Hawks felt the need to get rid of MM it would reflect poorly on JS and would justifiably be the last straw.

And WHO exactly would you recommend to replace him?

This is the same tired question for when Pete was here. You act as if though there is nobody in the NFL world that could step in. Sometimes you have to roll the dice when areas fall into purgatory whether the results are good or bad.

You didn't answer the question

So a name has to be provided for you or else just stick with something even if its broke right? Hold interviews and pick who you think is the best fit. Its not hard.

Just to satisfy your take though, i'd love to see Scot McCloughan step in as the GM.

If I thought he should be replaced I would be looking for other candidates but I don't. Why is JS so bad? And why is your guy better with a basically .500 record with the redskins and was fired for alcohol problems?

I have been pretty anti JS at times over what I perceived as stupid decisions. In particular some comments about the Oline.

I just want to see what happens this year now that MM has had some input for a year and a bit, particularly informed through FA and the Draft.

I also want to see what Darnold and the new looks on the offense and the new OC do.

Chemistry in training camp has been AMAZING. They're doin' something right. Proof of the pudding is in the eating this year. IMO.

I'm strictly wait and see at this point.

Im terrified if we got rid of JS we'd end up with a much worse GM. JS hasn't done anything that has made me say "he is the problem".

If anything, it's been proven to me over the last few seasons that PC was meddling in the draft too much.

But to each their own.

The NFL has passed John by, It's time to let him go. His lack of prioritizing the O-line might have been the hot move 10 years ago but now it's keeping the Seahawks out of the playoffs.

They just had arguably the best off-season in years. Head coaches always have some input on transactions and the decisions made since Pete left lead me to believe his input was no help.
If you can't get excited about the direction of the team then I don't know what would. The players that they've acquired, and moved, have a ton of potential and should bring a very exciting element to the team.

That was a set up in Washington by Allen and Snyder, yes he had or has a drinking issue, but talent evaluation the guy has balls of steel.

Not saying JS is horrible, but he seems to make the same mistakes over and over again. McCloughan's success record is fantastic and he is an incredible talent evaluator. His hands were tied in Washington with Snyder and I could care less how much he drinks.
