Wonder how this will go.

NFL owners vote to permit players to participate in 2028 Summer Olympics flag football

NFL players will be going for gold in the summer of 2028.

NFL owners passed a resolution, 32-0, on Tuesday at the Spring League Meeting that will allow league players to try out to participate in flag football during the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

A maximum of one player from each team will be allowed to participate and each club's designated international player is also permitted to take part for his country.

"I think this news represents a great opportunity for the sport, for the NFL," Commissioner Roger Goodell told reporters Tuesday after the announcement. "It's truly the next step in making NFL football and football a global sport for men and women of all ages and all opportunities across the globe. We think that's the right thing to do, and this is a big step in accomplishing that.

Just an injury waiting to happen. Hope no Hawks play.
Exactly! The first ACL tear will change this entire deal. Plus, the pro bowl already has this format and nobody watches anyway.

Olympic gold medal might make it a little more of a competition

I think a lot of people are going to watch. We watch all kinds of Olympic sports because it's the Olympics. So watching NFL players take on the world in flag football...I'll be tuning in.

Can't remember the player, but there was a RB who toasted his knee playing a game on the beach. He was never the same. Someone gets a huge season ending injury in a flag football game? No thx

Update: just found it......

I hate the concept of flag football replacing the NFL, I will not
watch one snap of it period.

I don't care if it's the Olympics, I haven't watched the Olympics
in years because of professionals being used and most if not all
being paid.

Money and politics ruined it for me and I don't miss it one bit the
way it is at all.

Sucks, our best HS players could win gold vs the rest of the world. Why not let them or college kids get gold medals instead of NFL guys?

Imagine being a professional athlete and tearing your ACL in flag football... Probably shouldn't be in the NFL at that point

But it is a money game.. all about the stars
