3?
Who's the third?
The 3 I'm referring to is Geno, DK, and yes Lockett. His numbers weren't as good as previous years but he always came up clutch when we needed him. So we need someone to give us what he averaged last year 12 yards per catch and 600 yards of offense on a down year. At this point, on our offense what number 3 wide out on the roster will produce that.

He averaged 35 yds per game. Had a grand total of 2 TDs. His YAC might literally have been 0 for the year

Love LOVE what Tyler did in his prime. One of my all time favorite hawks

But I am quite sure there is a guy/guys on our roster than can give us 35 yds per game and a TD every 8 games

I like The Athletic a lot. Some great writers, rare hyperbole, for the most part, sound writing and analysis.

That said, I do not agree at all that we are below average on anybody's power ranking. 17 is laughable to me. Even with all the new players, coaches, schemes...This is a solid roster with tremendous upside. Realistically, I would put them around 10-12. Still much to prove but I think Mike is the man for the gig, John is still showing he has much left in the tank...I believe.

AROS' SEAHAWKS PICK: 12
Consider that nonsense by the Athletic...the "Sam Darnold Sucks...hurr hurr...he sees ghosts" effect.

Many so-called "prognosticators" and articles did the same downplaying before last season when Sam was confirmed as the one QB'ing the Vikings that year.

It's just the usual disrespect that he's gotten time and time again.

We know what this team is capable of and I can't wait to see them on the field kicking ass and taking names.

I can't disagree with anything in the 12-20 range. The 2025 Seahawks are unproven. There are still holes in the roster. We added one potential solution to the interior line. That's only one out of three players there. I like Cooper Kupp but people don't see him as on the same level as DK. We added an aging defensive end, but the pass rush is still not going to be top notch. I like Ernest Jones, but he's a solid MLB, not a superstar.

It might interest you to know that Vegas ranks us at number 19, tied with the Cowboys. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2025/04/28/super-bowl-odds-2026-nfl-draft/83325230007/

Why do people care about what the rest of the world thinks? SERIOUSLY?
The players shouldn't care, but this is a discussion forum, so I think that what the rest of the world thinks, aka an objective view, is a good starting point for talking about where the team might be.

I'll be honest, I'm not a guy who really cares about stats like that. But its not about 35 yds a game. Its about his impact. He has to be accounted for because of his routes. So even though he didn't have the numbers, you did have to account for him. And he made DK and JSN have a easier time on the field. We lose more than production.

Our defense is top 10. But with 3 big time contributes on offense now gone i can definitely see the offense being ranked at about 20ish. Especially if we cannot run the football again. So i would say its about right. For the time being.
I’m thinking #13’ish.

Very optimistic. But, we finally got a real OC.

More disrespect (aka The Sam Darnold effect) :

Found it hilarious they have the Niners (who just had a f*cking Fire-sale) at the top.

Tyler got Grubbed.

Good players can underachieve in an offense run by an unqualified leader.

If i was running the Hawks offense, Tyler would have been lucky to get a catch. Check that. I think i could have done better than Grubb if I'd just copied the (insert x team)'s playbook and let chatGPT pick plays from it.

You cant reasonably assess the underperformance of a player in an offense like Grubbs unless you really understand the why's of the xs and os.

There was only 1 player who looked consistently good in that offense last year. There are 4 skill positions and 12 players that play them. 1/12 looked consistently good... think about that.

Prisco's rankings are... something.

Seahawks
They traded Geno Smith and signed Sam Darnold to play quarterback. He's younger, but the question is whether he is better. The offensive line should be better with the addition of first-rounder Grey Zabel.11

That "11" is how many spots we dropped from his last set of rankings.

Also, the next biggest drop was the Vikings, who fell 7 spots even though "they've improved on both the offensive and defensive lines", because of losing Darnold. The same quarterback who made us drop 11 spots because we don't know if he's an upgrade. Makes sense.

Still much to prove ...

This part of your OP is most likely the reason for the Athletic's ranking.

This team has a lot to prove. Several years of mediocrity. They lost to the Vikings and Packers at home down the playoff stretch when the margin for error was zero. They split with the Niners who weren't good last year and lost to a bad Giants team at home.

It's prove it time.

However, like many here, I think they have the talent now to prove them wrong next season and break the mediocrity pattern.

I truly believe the Hawks are better than the Cowgirls, Steelers and Donkeys. Maybe even better than the Bengals, Bucs, Chargers and Texans.
(All the teams picked ahead of them in the Athletics ranking, in order.)

I don't know about Denver. They have a pretty good defense. #1 in pressures and sacks, stout against the run. They could get better against the pass. They drafted a CB with their 1st round pick so that should help with that. They scored 25 pts/g with a rookie QB. They have a really good offensive line. They are on the up swing. But they couldn't beat KC or LA, so that would have to change.

I still say they won't be able to beat KC and LA this season either.

It will be more of the status quo in that division.
