As a teacher I think it’s silly to pass out grades before any work has been done or any clear assessments have taken place. I get the idea. Overall I’m satisfied with what they have done. They added quality guys to the team.
But grading a draft before any of them play a single NFL play? Kind of a misguided exercise. I suspect most grades are based mostly on if the grader has even heard of the drafted player or someone they watched, followed or read about. Really you either like it or not.
Grading a draft on draft day would be like me handing out students grades based on how quickly they turned in a test based on what I have seen them do previously. Johnny is usually 3rd to 5th in finishing but was first today so he gets an A. Susie didn’t dot the i in her name so she gets a C- . These examples are just arbitrary assessments of how I might subjectively perceive them. My opinion has no bearing on the actual content of the work they have done.
Every draft class is unique. What might seem like the best pick since picks became picks, could turn into a complete turd. We just don’t know. We hope. We want. We just really don’t have a clue until the cleats hit the field.
That being said, I give my experience of this draft an A. Drafted for need in the first round. Had a fun not expected move up in the second round to get a top freakish safety. The Milroe pick? My jaw literally fell open. I loved the draft. Had a great time watching it.
