I believe Cross has hired an agent. Heard/read that just a couple of days ago.

They may be trying to forge a long term extension/contract that would forgo the need for the 5th year option that would be cheaper in cap space for this year and would set things up for the long haul. There are good reasons to not take the option route.

Or maybe they will let him walk, though I doubt they want to do that.

We have signed two tackles of the future, the only offensive linemen that we signed this off season. Just saying.

Physicality in the trenches matter. A good scheme is not going to make bad talent, good.

I don't care what the scheme is. You put Big Walt and Hutch out there in their primes and they will open a hole when you need one.
I wouldn’t call the Seahawks talent bad it’s average-decent I have seen lesser talented offensive lineman being successful with the ZBS. The average fan who I include the majority of the sports media doesn’t know good offensive line play so when I hear them comment on the Seahawks O line I just shake my head. You will notice a big improvement in 2025 over 2024 with the Seahawks offensive line. I like to compare the O line to the Borg collective in Star Trek 5 minds thinking as 1 sometimes it takes a group a little while to gel

I am expecting the Seahawks O line to improve to top 20 maybe better

My 2 favorite O Line groups were the Redskin Hogs from the 80s and the Bronco’s of the late 90s. No real stars just a group of guys working well together

Also injuries have been so brutal on the line. Just some consistency on the line would help. Let's hope.

Yeah, I'm kind of looking forward to our 4-5 guys having another season together, with a full off season and improved playcalling/scheme. Most of them are pretty young and another year could be enormous.

I've reached the conclusion that the reason our O-line always sucks is because we always overvalue versatility. The Hawks put the cart before the horse, just like they did with SPARQ and second level blocking (when they whiff on primary assignment).
Schneider is not wrong when he says he's used draft capital on the offensive line. So what's the problem? Our draft process overvalues versatility to an insane degree. Instead of viewing versatility as a positive secondary trait they view it as a necessary primary trait. Above-average future starting LTs are ignored because they don't play guard. Future above-average guards are ignored because they don't also play Center. Above-average centers are ignored because they don't also play Guard. The hawk's process weeds out the good players and leaves them with a draft board of mediocre linemen who know how to suck at multiple positions. That's the main issue.
