Ok, all you football junkies how is his game compared to Tyler Warren.? Sure would be nice to get a potential "great" TE for the first time. Would you like the Hawks to take him at 18.?

Pass. Everything I’ve read talks about Loveland being a weapon in the passing game, but a liability when asked to block. The comp that keeps coming up is Kincaid. He’d be a luxury pick that I don’t think we could afford right now.

He’ll likely be gone, but Warren is the far better fit. His most common comp is Kittle.

I’d pass on Loveland.

I think tight end is a luxury pick on a team destined to run the ball and throw to JSN/Kupp before they target the tight end(s).

Which is why spending a first rounder on a tight end is not an efficient move, IMO.

Take offensive line or defensive line, always, with your first round picks.

Regular season games are won with scheme but playoff games are especially won in the trenches.

Seattle needs to reconstruct the trenches to be consistent playoff winners, first.

Rather than looking at Warren or Loveland at 18, I would target-.

Terrance Ferguson Oregon
Gunnar Helm Texas
Harold Fannin Jr Bowling Green

Around the 3rd round. I would consider either moving up to the top of the 3rd or trading down a bit in the 2nd if 2 or 3 were still on the board. Regardless, they'd have to be Kubiak approved.

BTW, I think Barner is going to be a 4th round steal soon.

The team has or will have LSU TE- Mason Taylor in for pre-draft visit. This player is a complete TE with a family history in the NFL. He’s a day 2 pick.

Loveland may not be a great blocker but perhaps he wasn't needed for that, Michigan has been pretty stout upfront for several years, maybe he could be coached up. Either way I wouldn't just dismiss a very good receiving TE who ranks as high as he does:

"Take offensive line or defensive line, always with your first round picks."
Words of wisdom.
I would include QB of course.
Once you build up your lines, all other positions will function & perform at a higher level.
Bill Parcells said "There are only so many big people on this planet that can play in the trenches at a high level and when you find one you take him."

After how badly I whiffed on my analysis of Barner last year, I'm not judging these UM guys based on how they were used. I didn't get the impression Colston was necessarily a liability as a blocker, and the effort in that facet of his game appears to be there, but there's consensus that he needs to get stronger. He certainly has the frame for it.

The reason I think Warren might be worth the pick is that he helps the run game and pass catching group. It’s an atypical approach to helping the two weakest areas on the team. I think it’s possible he would have a far higher overall grade than anyone else on the board at 18. It also sounds like there are about 10 guards all with late first /second round grades. Effectively you might get the same caliber of OL at pick 50.

Probably a pipe dream

For what it’s worth, I think Loveland could be a very good player. I just don’t think he fits this particular offense and roster all that well.

I really like Loveland as a fit in Kubiak's 12 personnel, and what his pass catching talent would offer to Darnold in the seam, and how his presence would help JSN and Kupp depending upon if he's lining up on the boundary side or field side. Loveland is a rare mover for someone his size.

Warren is a nice prospect too, with some added versatility, but I feel that Warren needs manufactured touches more so than Loveland. Loveland will be a 21 year old rookie, whereas Warren will be a 23 year old rookie, so there is more physical development upside with Loveland. And people who know a lot more about football than I do are arguing that Loveland is already the better blocker: https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/articl...ects-at-a-challenging-position-191024073.html

From what I've been reading, a lot of teams think Colston is better than Warren. Now where these "teams" who feel this way line up in the draft no one knows but a lot of teams have Colston higher. I'm also hearing he probably won't fall to us at 18 so it won't even be an option.

Personally I think Arroyo in the 2nd is the perfect guy to take where need meets draft grade. I love Taylor because the lineage factor. His father was an amazing player and the sons typically come into the league even better. I'd be happy with either one, I just think Arroyo fits everything we want

A receiving TE who can’t block. Schneider likes those kind of guys

Yeah (i get what you're saying) except from what I'm hearing, Kubiak is planning to use 2 tight-end sets so wouldn't getting Loveland be the move if he's there?

Well if they think that, then the chances Warren drops to us increase then.

It works both ways.

I'd be very excited if we drafted Loveland. Unlikely he falls to us though.
