It's probably about time for this change.

I might have missed it in the article. I kind of scanned it. Will this new Hawkeye tech also be used to determine if the ball broke the plane of the endzone?
Doesn't seem like it. I read the article and did a bunch of searching. Looks like it's first down only.I might have missed it in the article. I kind of scanned it. Will this new Hawkeye tech also be used to determine if the ball broke the plane of the endzone?
Interesting. I wonder how a chip in the ball would work. Would there need to be multiple sensors throughout the ball so that the exact nose of the football could be determined?Doesn't seem like it. I read the article and did a bunch of searching. Looks like it's first down only.
I'm surprised that it's all 'optical'. I thought it would be a chip or something combined with it. I'm not really sure that it will be 100% able to 'see' the ball in all circumstances.
It's like when Tesla took the LIDAR out of the self drive and made it optical only. I'm like "That's not gonna work 100%".
Guess we'll see....
Theoretically you just need one in the center and just use software to calculate the ball dimensionsInteresting. I wonder how a chip in the ball would work. Would there need to be multiple sensors throughout the ball so that the exact nose of the football could be determined?
I detest replay, fire the referees for obvious mistakes. First train them very well, pay them well, and quit burning up game time on constant replays.

Pretty much. They’ll still find a way to **** things up anyway.Forgot to add, the 40 seconds, per measurement, saved will, of course, be perfect for slipping in a few more ads during the game.
What, you thought the NFL was going to all this expense just to improve the flow of the game?
