I got to shake hands with Big Walt. We were at a rally of sorts at a pub in London and a bunch of Seahawks VIP's were in a restricted area of the pub but had to walk through the main floor to reach the bathrooms. Walt was walking right past me, and I stepped in front of him and extended my right hand, so he had two choices: Either grab me by the shoulders and toss me out of the way or shake hands. Fortunately for me, he chose the latter.

Walt was just the 2nd HOF'er I've ever shook hands with the other being Bob Feller.

From the thread title I thought maybe JS was bringing Walt in for a look. No stone left unturned. This team has drafted good o lineman since Walt. Just not all at once. The 22 draft that brought both Cross and Lucas was a good get on those two.

The way how Seattle acquired Jones was also interesting they traded with the Saints for the #6 pick because the Saints ownership didn’t want to pay the money what a #6 picked player would cost

-- That was the first year of Paul Allen ownership. We jumped up twice. I think we started with #11 and #12 in the first round. Moved up to #3 and drafted Shawn Springs and then moved to #6 to get Jonesy.

-- Thank you for this reminder. I can still see my Dad's face, when I told him we had just traded Rick Mirer (whom he hated) to the Chicago Bears (whom he loved). I said Mirer had been traded and he was so happy, because he still supported the Hawks as his second team, but then I had to tell him the second part. Not so happy.

Seattle has in its passed picked up some of the best linemen or above average in the NFL. Jones, Hutchenson, Mawae, Unger are some notable examples. I'd toss in Okung as a very sold LT pick up and had it not been for injuries I think he would've and should've been Seattle's LT for the last 10-12 years.

Cross and Lucas both quite good.
Ethan Pocic is still a good center, we just boned it up.
Britt ended up being a good center, just took a while to get him to his correct spot.
Max Unger. Russell Okung. Both good.
Glowinski ended up being good in Indy.
Sweezy was pretty good too, especially for draft slot.
James Carpenter was a damn good guard.

I won't go into ancient history, but we have drafted some really legit talent on the lines. The unfortunate part has been our offensive coaching not utilizing or developing it, so a lot of these guys became gems for other organizations.

Toss in Bradford too.

Seattle has drafted players, some within a few years of each other and by all means should've had some of the best lines in the League but what failed them was scheme and coaching and that's a damn shame.
