Macdonald is just starting out. Geno wasn't his QB. He inherited him. If you know anything from this guy you've got one chance to prove yourself or you're gone.

That's good compensation if you weren't going to pay anyway and the fact remains Geno is 34. His window is closing and if we are going full rebuild... which, it really looks like, he probably won't be a viable starter once that time is up.
