He's been pretty solid his entire career.
His best year was actually the year Bobby Wagner came back here, so 2023. He learned some things from Bobby and has been solid for more than just the contract year.Remember, he's a free agent coming off his best year. Were all his years this good?
Signing Geno would clear cap space. Absolutely no reason a Geno extension should prevent this from happening. If they lose Jones because they sign Geno I'll be pissed. Long term you have to get Jones.
Only for this year. You want to lock up these guys for years especially Jones who’s 25. But if Geno is extended is surely lowers it this year and I’m assuming they have an out clause every year too as I’m thinking about it.Signing Geno would clear cap space. Our books are wide open past this year. We're in a great spot after this coming season. Again, no reason it'd prevent them from re-signing our MIKE.Only for this year. We could cut Geno and sign Wilson and I am sure you would be fine with that.Only for this year. You want to lock up these guys for years especially Jones who’s 25. But if Geno is extended is surely lowers it this year and I’m assuming they have an out clause every year too as I’m thinking about it.
Nope already saidi don't want him. I'm not a fan of aging QB extensions but good try I guess. We could cut Geno and sign Wilson and I am sure you would be fine with that.
Hell noWe could cut Geno and sign Wilson and I am sure you would be fine with that.
Yeah, the NFL puts ILB and OLB as the same for Tag purposes, which is nuts in terms of how different the pay scale is for those spots, making it near impossible for teams to franchise tag good ILBs.That won’t happen franchise tag for linebacker in 2025 is $27 million
Why would he do that? It's not a knock on the Seahawks or anyone else but it wouldn't be in his best interest. He might want to play for a specific other team and if not he'll want the Seahawks to force the bidding up.Here's hoping we have some sort of clause in our existing agreement with Jones that allows us the opportunity to match any other offer from outside.
Seahawks will never force the bidding up. They just give the player a chance to see what the numbers look like, and the Seahawks have the same chance. Then talks happen in earnest. By doing it the way they are doing it they prove to the player they will be fair, but will not be taken advantage of.Why would he do that? I'm guessing in MacD's eyes EJ is a must-have priority item. If JS has any respect for his new HC and if he truly wants to turn the team around - I think EJ gets targeted as a must-stay.Jones remains unsigned? In Schneider's eyes, Geno Smith and Ernest Jones, both are not must-have or priority items, he considered Jordyn Brooks the same way. Schneider will let the Genos, Jones, Brooks type to test the market, and when they come back with tails between their legs, Schneider will lowball them.
All to put a smile on our lovely Ms Allen's face.
