I have no confidence in John Schneider at all. He has a problem stringing together multiple sentences to express an idea, and the last all-pro he drafted was Tyler Lockett in 2015, ten years ago. In short, he talked like someone with sub-par IQ, and his last ten years' drafts reflected that.
First time I heard JS speak I thought he had ADD, still do

He's been outdrafted by 2 division rivals for a while now. He's maybe the 3rd best GM in our division. That's as high as he can go because if you think Lynch is eating his lunch, I'd like to introduce you to Les Snead.
I could go as far as the 4th best, Monti Ossenfort is off to a good start

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't we finish second in our division last year? Could have been first if Geno didn't gack that LA game away with turnovers.
Amazing since we have the worst GM in the division.
Especially considering the changeover we had last year.

I am speculating here.

Pete didn't want to hire a GM without or incapable of formulating a football philosophy, someone who's not too bright, or too ambitious. Pete found and hired Schneider, who fit the bill perfectly. A mediocre man, who made average to below-average drafts.

That means in the last 10 years there have been 220 all pro players and only one of those 220 spots was used for a player we drafted. That is really telling. I get us “fans” aren’t privy to all of the information on drafting players, however, when many on this board, including me were screaming for us to draft Creed Humphrey and we passed to take D’wyane Eskridge, it just showed that his priorities weren’t in the right place even though we know how glaring of a need OL was and still is.

What is the goal?

We could have won 17 games but we didn't. We can also disect each win the way the other side can say we could have won this or that game. The Rams were tanking at 1-4. 9ers plagued by injuries etc.

More than 220, the 2024 first team allpro were 45 honorees strong. Ten years would be over 400, 400 first teamers decided by 32 teams, 12.5 opportunities per team, and we have zero

Including second teamers, each team have something like 20 opportunities, and we cashed in 2 of those opportunities as Lockett was honored twice, both as second team allpro.

Lockett was drafted in 2015, we had zero from 2016 onwards.

Some other teams have been eating our breakfast lunnch and dinners.

Yes Pete went into it thinking. I want to deliberately undermine myself with mediocrity.

This is hilarious. I think he's a little better than this though. It would be nice to hit on some OL in the draft. I can then concentrate on other short comings. Haha.

Schneider trading down 8 spots in the first round for an extra 4th rounder only to take a consensus 2nd rounder in the bottom of the first.
Its called extra Eggo's.

Schneider is not a great GM. Look no further than his first year of having final say over player personnel. His draft was pretty underwhelming and his outside free agent signings were awful. It doesn't inspire a lot of confidence moving forward.

You are not an admirer of our much invested ol known affectionately around the league as the Schneider line?

Cross - Haynes - Olu - Bradford - Lucas

All hand picked and drafted by our GM.

How was the last draft underwhelming?

You can attribute some signings, if not all, last year to having a head coach hired late and just trying to find bodies to fill "perceived needs" without having the time to truly understand the types of players Mike MacDonald needs and wants. This is where his "perceived needs" comment from a couple days ago comes from. Let him have a full offseason with his coach to have a gameplan to better this team before you start calling for him to be fired. I'm amazed at how people around here think if we don't win a Super Bowl every year we are a failure of an organization and need to blow it up every year. We are one of the best Organizations in all of sports this century. We're doing something right. Can't have 32 Super Bowl winners every year.

You act like it's so simple. We lost the division because of the 5th tiebreaker. We are right there. It's not like we're the Cardinals. We're in a division with 2 of the best HC's in football. Just because we missed the playoffs doesn't mean last season was a failure. We're on the right track. last year was basically year 1 all around. Year 1 for JS to be the guy. Year 1 for Mike as HC. They quickly pivoted off what didn't work and getting in their guys in coaches and personnel. You can't snap your fingers and make everything come together in an instant. You need to learn patience. Great things take time to build, and the reasonable people around here can see it.
