His quote was: "You can’t just throw money at something to fix a perceived need." Why did he say "perceived?" No, John, it's glaring and obvious.
I think you are reading way too much into it. I don’t think he was even referring to this year. I think that comment was directed at the Dre’Mont Jones signing or even the 2 linebacker signings from last year in baker and Dodson.

The reason I say that is earlier in the interview he said “we can all see what our problem is and we need to focus on that. I paraphrased but he flat out said he knows where the problem is and he will address it. It likely won’t come in the form of 3 brand new big names on the interior, but rather 2 maybe 1 solid signing (Dalman) then draft LG relatively high. Then let the best man win at RG while trying to do a better job at developing.

That’s how I took the interview. People are taking his comments and twisting them to fit what they want to hear, just like the overpaid and overvalued guard comment.

Yes the Seahawks have been one of the more successful teams over the last 20 years but that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement.
Many gave JS the benefit of doubt over the bad high profile trades wasting $ and 1st rounders with Carroll having the final say in the matters. But it's now time for John to show he can do it on his own, it's all on him. There has been a stretch of bad drafts from 2013-2021 and costly FA trades. I do not think JS is untouchable and don't think it would require gutting the whole system. I am pulling for him but it will require change and an open mind.
Scouting/Player evaluation must improve.
QB & O-Line priorities.
Pencil work/capologist must be more long term balanced keeping us out of the red.
The next couple of years will be very telling to where we are heading.

Move on to who? Before you ever make such a move you need to have your target selected and secured. JS is one of the best in the league and is recognized as such league wide.
I get it and I love John. I’m not sure there is an interview I don’t like listening to more than John. But you’re now the 4 longest in the entire conference to make it to the NFC championship game, your line has been a problem for a decade. If they sign Geno to another contract and don’t fix the line it will cost John his job. We don’t want the Seahawks to turn into the Mariners.

I have mad respect for JS but the OLine has been a continuing problem the whole time he’s been here. Tick Tock John, time is running out on your time to fix this “perceived problem”.

Let’s hope last season was the end of ‘cheap’ and ‘hoped for’ solutions to an OLine that could neither run block or pass protect. To me I have a sense the coaching was weak last year but that doesn’t really answer the historical weakness.

The middle of the line needs to be strengthened and they need to be a tougher and more physical group. I’d start at C and find at least one experienced and proven LG. After that cull the weak guys that aren’t tough enough to show up and kick some butts on Sunday. A new approach needs to be taken.

This team has been one of the most competitive teams league wide his entire tenure. He also is very experienced at running a franchise.
Canning him accomplishes nothing and would set us back a lot. We would be starting all over again. JS is good at his job and this year they were able to put together a competent staff on the offensive side of the ball.
He isn't going to be fired nor should he be.
Totally agree.

This place is super obsessed with firing people though.

I haven't been a fan of JS for about a year and a half now.

Thought we should have wholesale cleaned house with the MM hire, and switched the GM out.

Who? No idea. Why? 'cause he seems to have a learning disability - he keeps doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results.

Will I eat some crow if we 'magically' make it to the NFCCG this year? A bit - but doesn't erase the last 6 years of absolute frustration staring at the same problems over and over and over again.

It's called every fan base. Unless your team is winning the SB, then they are the greatest coaches known to man.

I think it is a matter of training and that bringing in a staff that has the concept that they are looking for is gonna work. We have only had the coaches for what???...a year. Get the concept of what they want and then progress to a winning season. It happens.

I haven't had an accurate prediction of what the Hawks will do since they drafted Tubbs, but screw it, here it goes...

The Seahawks already have a suiter for the Geno trade. Its why they are hyping him up but won't finalize a contract, let the next team do it.

It will be a draft day trade, if the right QB is still around when that other team picks...the Hawks will make the trade.

JS isn't changing who he is, he doesn't have to...he has a Super Bowl ring.

If he is fired, there will be 5 teams that are in need of a proven Super Bowl winning GM.

It's all about EGO! JS and his plan VS. Making the OL the top offseason priority.

Winner: JS's EGO. The Seahawks bring in a couple stop gap OL players, John is fired after the season and show continues

Well I think most would agree that JS is well liked and a solid, if not top 10 GM.
That said, i think John Lynch has eaten Schneiders lunch since about 2017.
I hate to say that but he needs to fix the O-Line and hit on some picks.
I think people know how hard it is to find a QB and don't expect him to make one magicly appear. We just want the front office to identify one they like enough to spend the draft picks on. That could be a 5th or two 1st rounders. It's like buying a house or a car, sometimes you just know, sometimes it takes a little elbow grease.
If nothing else, I think a day 3 QB would be fun to watch compete against Howell in pre season.

The only thing I’ll say is that we can’t say he didn’t put in any effort to build a line such as some of the players he drafted or acquired below. With the said, you really can’t build part of a line because if you have three good lineman and two bad that means 40% of your line is susceptible to ruining your offense. Here are some of his good acquisitions or attempt at good acquisitions

Lucas
Damien Lewis
Cross
Duane Brown
Pocic
Ifedi
Britt
Fluker
Etc…
I never said he didnt try. I'm not sure how anyone that's been paying could say that. He just hasn't been very good at it.

I also somewhat disagree. Not every line can have 5 studs. There's combinations to things that can hide deficiencies and scheme can help the other part. Our left side in the 00's. The early teens where we had an All Pro C, a Pro Bowl LT. You can hide some flaws. Fir example do you think Becton on the Pats OL had the type of turn around here had in Philly?

I think he is well liked around the league.

Im not sure how or who would consider him one of the best GMs in the league. Whether you believe in rankings or not he hasn't been close to the top in any of them in a long while. He's been here a decade and a half and to this day the only 1st rd pick to receive a second contract is from his first draft in 2010. That's abysmal.

He's been outdrafted by 2 division rivals for a while now. He's maybe the 3rd best GM in our division. That's as high as he can go because if you think Lynch is eating his lunch, I'd like to introduce you to Les Snead.

This.

And it's just getting painful to watch.

Another poster said that we were in a 'soft' division - I was like WTF?

Quite frankly, I'm amazed that he pulled the MM hire out of his ass. Other than that I haven't been impressed AT ALL for a while.

PC masked ALOT of his issues - IMHO. PC obviously had his own - but just saying.

I have no confidence in John Schneider at all. He has a problem stringing together multiple sentences to express an idea, and the last all-pro he drafted was Tyler Lockett in 2015, ten years ago. In short, he talked like someone with sub-par IQ, and his last ten years' drafts reflected that.
