The Seahawk's stupidity of drafting a DT from Texas vs an exceptional edge rusher from FSU is pretty evident in this game.
Verse is a wrecking ball as I knew he would be.

All else equal, Edge rushers are always more valuable than DTs. Because until the league calls interior holds, you can hold the DT.

Was disappointed we made that stupid decision, even more upset we let the Rams Dammit. (Verse). The DT we got was OK. But the value of a great DT is overrated, vs the value of a great edge.

Damnit.

Is it? Verse looks like the best player on a bad defense. Everyone gives the Rams so much credit (they got Verse as soon as Donald was gone! Life's not fair!) and then ignore that their defense isn't very good.

Interior pressure is more disruptive than edge pressure. Edge rushers get the stats (and thus the cash) but that doesn't inherently make them more valuable.

I'd rather see our rookie DT be somewhat disappointing on a top 5-ish defense than we get an edge rusher who looks great on a bottom 5-ish defense, so color me skeptical about how bad of a move Macdonald and Schneider made here.
