This front office and ownership is a flat out joke. I'm not sure I've ever been LESS interested in Mariners Baseball than I am right now.
Sucks, I'm almost to the point where I just don't care. I'm sure that'll change when they start playing, but I have no intentions of going to a single game next year. Unless it's free.

Does anyone think Luis Castillo is going to be happy going into the season knowing the cheapskate M's were trying to dump him somewhere else? I don't have faith in dopey Jerry the 🤡 DiBozo to kiss & makeup with a player he tried to get rid of.

I couldn't care less and I can't imagine it'll make any difference anyway. They have one of the worst offenses in baseball. They're not winning anything regardless.

Well, anything short of these cheapskates reversing course & signing someone like Alonso or Santander, they're definitely going to fall short, on the field & probably finally with the fans.

Hope is not a strategy.

So the Jays today landed Santander for 5/$92mil..... Doesn't sound too ridiculous to assume the Seattle Mariners could've absorbed a contract like that for a productive offensive player to actually improve the lineup.

They're not even trying. Baseball is broken and its why it will continue to lose popularity to the NFL, basketball etc.

Yep. It's all about making profit. What an absolute travesty this ownership is. We are wasting the best starting pitching staff in team history.

It's real bad business on the part of ownership to not realize that additional on field success, will lead to increased revenues. REAL success, not being in contention the last weekend for the back door Wild Card where the M's would get bounced immediately anyway because the roster is packed with utility scrubs, but actual REAL postseason success.

It's not as fun to watch anymore. Bring back steroids and tradition. Manfred hates MLB.

I literally am starting to not even care. Ownership doesn't care, why should I? And I love baseball. But they don't even try to get better.

They're bringing Polanco back... to play 3rd base.

https://www.mlb.com/news/jorge-polanco-mariners-free-agent-contract

So they let Rojas go, who admittedly was a below average hitter (but still better than Polanco), but was very good on defense at 3rd base, to sign Polanco, who was the worst defensive 2nd basemen in MLB last year and was also a horrible hitter.

From the article,
Polanco has been a poor defender throughout his career and recorded minus-10 Outs Above Average at second base last year -- the worst among qualified players at the position.

Here's the really special part. They're paying Polanco double what Rojas signed for.

Rojas signed a 1 year deal with the White Sox for $3.5 million.

The Mariners signed Polanco for 1 year for $7.75 million.

So to summarize, the Mariners got much worse on defense at 3rd base, got worse on offense, and they're paying more than double what it would have cost to just re-sign Rojas.

I understand that Stanton is a big part of the problem, but people need to wake the F up and realize that DiPoto is a huge problem as well. Last offseason, DiPoto payed more for Garver, Haniger, and Polanco than it would have cost to just keep Teo, Geno, and Kelenic. Now he's paying more to make the team worse again. These moves aren't an issue of the owner being cheap. These moves are an issue of the GM being an incompetent moron.

It will never happen but I would to see for just 1 year what Jerry could with an open checkbook. He may screw it up completely but we will truly never know with this ownership group. I want to give Jerry the benefit of the doubt. And maybe I'm wrong but he hasn't exactly been given a large amount of resources to work with
