My goal as a fan is to watch great football, and find a team or players to hang my hat on.
So you're coming out and declaring to the world that you're a front-runner, whoring out to whoever is winning lately. Got it, thanks for clarifying. This will inform my opinions of your future posts. Thanks for letting us all know!

Honest answer (even though I'm not toffee): In 2022, Geno was just outside of the top 5 QBs in the league by performance.

Did we have a good offensive line? No, we had an 'ok' one. Did we have a good running game? No, we had a bad one. We had literally one aspect to our offense, which was Geno Smith throwing the ball. I love our WRs/TEs (even in 2022), but they haven't been great at YAC.

So, we were literally one dimensional, relying on a QB who hadn't been a starter in forever... and we were a top 10 offense.

This is why all the 'Yeah, Geno can be great if you surround him with elite everything, but even a HS QB could do that!' stuff is such nonsense. We've never surrounded him with 'elite' anything.

All Geno needed for a great season was a mediocre offensive line and his receivers not to drop the ball. (In addition to being bad at YAC, our receiving corps was also merely 'ok' at generating separation... but their drop rate was superb that year).

In 2023, we still had a bad running game, our offensive line got worse, our receivers developed a bad case of the dropsies, and we still had 'Geno please play well' as the only dimension to our offense... and we were still a top 10 offense.

I'm not saying Geno is our future. Dude is 34. I'll let Mike Mac and John Schneider determine to what degree you want to pay for a guy who's going to be on the wrong side of 35 before you know it. The idea of bringing Geno back is not clearcut whatsoever. (In addition to his age, the cost of QBs, how the NFL draft looks like it's shaping up, what kind of commitment Geno wants, we also have decisions about Grubb and to determine how close we are to being 'competitive' that impact this decision...)

But I wouldn't be upset if he came back and if anything, I'd take it as a positive sign that Macdonald has serious plans to compete for the playoffs next year.
And geno has regressed every year since 2022. Sure, hes top 5 in yards this year... But man he's been lousy at turning those into touchdowns. He's over 4000 yards passing with 17 touchdowns, that is horrible efficiency for a "top" nfl qb.

If geno was still on a rookie contract, there would be hope that he could learn on the go, but at 34 years old, no he won't lol. He is a decent qb, will never take the reins as a top 5 nfl qb. I'd much rather have a young guy play over him

Efficiency isn't measured by yards to touchdowns, so that means nothing to me. Success Rate, though, is a fairly good stat for measuring 'efficiency' of a QB. In 2022, Geno was #11 in Success Rate. In 2023, #11. In 2024, #12. He's remarkably consistent at actually generating 'positive' plays that keep us ahead of the chains.

My other problem with this argument is that: our offensive line got worse in 2023. Our offensive gameplan got much worse in 2024. Why would I expect Geno's numbers to get better?

I'm happy to entertain the 'youth' argument. I'm good with that. But Geno has been a consistently 'above average' QB and I don't need a 'top 5 QB' to be sitting behind a bottom 5 offensive line with a bottom 5 running game managed by a bottom 5 offensive coordinator only to have everyone talk about nothing but the QB.

Advanced stats are cool man, but watching him play i want to pulls my eyes out sometimes lol. Hes a bit better than average but makes some HORRIBLE decisions

Thank you for your logical analysis. I am not as brainy, so I shall repeat this car analogy:

GeNOs are like all my friends who owned or own Mercedes S class, none of them are happy with their car, they always felt slighted by the Bentleys and Rolls on prestige, and Ferrari etc. on attracting attention. However, their S class is as good if not better at doing everything that counts.
Not everything…. They don’t get the chicks

It is silly to live and die for the home team. It is a business, it is not like College was, High School, or peewees. I was a huge fan of one team, until I wasn't anymore. My first love was the Rams in the 60's. Then the Hawks until about 2017. I missed a lot of games, kneeling for the flag, BLM, players allowed to act the fool on the field. I like discipline for a Coach, and PC was the opposite of that. Blaring rap at practice, it was meant to keep the players happy I guess, but it does not build discipline or dedication. The team dissolved into individuals. The best teams are TEAMS, like KC, who I hate. Notice they dumped a very good WR, because he was too much me me me. They are better without him. Team first, individual last.

Remember Seattle going to Minnesota for the playoffs? Marshawn Lynch didn't even fly out with the team, still recovering from groin surgery? He played the next week though. Or Bennett running from a Casino, then squealing like a girl, when the cops cornered him. Too many things, distraction, the Hawks were broken. Right now they are building something, I am interested, but I do have other things to do.

Peace bro, and don't we all back a winner, and hope our home team becomes one someday?

No. Actual fans live and die with their team. **** other teams when they win and we don't. You truly embody everything I don't like about front-runner fans. We don't need your kind. We need real fans. You should probably go cheer for the Chiefs or something.

Lock can't carry a team, either. Yeah, Howell came in and looked like garbage in his first snaps this year--but so did Lock. Coming into this game, Drew Lock was in 4th place of 4 QBs to play for the Giants this year on a roster of Daniel Jones, Tommy DeVito, Tim Boyle, and himself.

I'm thoroughly of the belief that Howell and Lock are of essentially equal caliber, but Howell is younger and cheaper and was thus an 'upgrade' for a backup QB.

Good for Drew, though. He tied some sort of record with Eli Manning for a Giants QB performance, and this was a good victory in the final two weeks of the season. I'm sure New York's planning to draft a QB, though, so I don't really know where Drew fits into their plans next year at this point.
Remember the Eagles game late last year?

Well of course it could get worse, but at least there is hope for upside? I for one would love to come into the red zone and think we actually have a chance lol
There you go, it's all about upside, all about HOPE.

He had one good drive where he completed 5 passes against the the worst starting cornerback in the league.
And most of those passes weren't what one would call accurate, most required WR to make extra efforts. BUT, Drew Lock represents HOPE, and HOPE is what GeNOs crave these days.

Draft a QB in 2nd or 3rd round, sign Drew Lock, and extend Howell. We shall become the HOPE-est team in the league, bar none.

My record ain't perfect:

I started advocating to trade Wilson two years before he was traded, but he was traded.

I started advocating to start Geno befire Wilson was traded, he did start probowls, playoff and all

I started advocating to trade Lockett two years ago, Schneider didn't have what it takes to pull the trigger.

I am now advocating to trade Geno, he is failing to put butts in stadium. It's time.
