According to SI's Breer “I’m told that Pete has informed all of the teams with openings that he is looking to get back into coaching in 2025. " Where would be Pete's best-case scenario? From rocking chair to coaching in windy Chicago, could Pete find another coaching job? if so where?

It’d be interesting to see what he could do with the Bears but I’d rather he go somewhere I don’t have to root against him like college.

As long as he doesn't go to a division rival, I don't really care where he ends up at.

As far as what team would be the best situation for him, I suppose it would have to be the Bears as they already have their QBOTF, meaning that Pete would be free to spend draft picks on defensive players.

And here's a thought: Perhaps he'd be willing to trade us a #1 for Metcalf.

What jobs are expected to be open? Bears, Jets, Jaguars, and Saints obviously. More likely possibilities look like Giants, Titans, Raiders. Maybes that I could see are Cowboys, Patriots, Bucs, Bengals, Dolphins, Colts.

I think any franchise would be lucky to have him, but realistically, teams aren't going to be lined up around the block for him. I'm thinking he ends up with 1-2 options at most. Something like the Bengals or Bucs would be best IMO. I don't want to see him thrown into some disaster situation like the Jags or Titans.

I thought of the Bengals because they have a great QB, one of the most potent offenses, but are weak to awful on defense. I don't know how hot that coaches seat is, or whether their cheap ownership would pay for two head coaches. But definitely a spot where he could succeed, it seems to me.

It should be red hot, but given how notoriously cheap Brown is with his coaches, I imagine there's a good chance Taylor gets another season. Carroll would be a tremendous hire for them if Brown does the smart thing for once.

I love Pete but there didn’t seem to be any interest last year in him so doubt there would be this year. I think if you give him a young offensive OC Pete would be great for a Celeb Williams in Chicago.

Pete: "I get asked a lot, so I'm pretty familiar with answering that I could coach tomorrow," Carroll said on 93.9 KJR last August. "I'm physically in the best shape I've been in a long time. I'm ready to be ready to do all the activities that I'm doing and feeling really good about it. I could, but I'm not desiring it at this point."

So he turned down opportunities and took a year off?

I don’t think he had any head coaching opportunities and turned them down and said in interviews he still wanted to coach?
I guess we will see. His team had a bottom 3 defense for 3 straight years and a rookie head coach has them playing miles better in year one. Strangely he has a better recent record with quarterbacks so that’s why I thought maybe Chicago? I think him and Caleb are both different and unique and it could work.

It’s entirely possible I’m wrong there just didn’t seem to be any buzz and when teams are interested in guys it’s almost always out there

I agree with you, but who knows, he is still a brand name in the coaching circle.

As long as he didn't go somewhere and fail miserably, then it would be a fun story to watch unfold. He'd become the oldest coach in the history of the game if he lasted long at all.
