Can we get two infeilders batting .250 or better?

It seems a bidding war is upon us for Mr Castillo. How can we take advantage? Get one premo infielder and save enough to lure a free agent? Prospects? Two starter infeild guys for one? Prospect pitching?_you know we will make him a star.

If we assume payroll increases 15 million and we have 25 million from Castillo is that not excitement in a Mariners payroll kind of way?

Is Castillo expendable with our group? I think so. We won't miss a beat.

I like the thought of what the team can get for the Rock. I just don't trust the person making the trades. At all.

Mark Vientos from the Mets straight up for Castillo would be a dream trade. Doubt the Mets would go for something like that but that would fill a huge need at 3B and shed money. Right up Dipoto's ally.

2 infielders who bat .250 with 20 homers is all the Ms need. That's what's so frustrating. The DH can be figured out during the season.
I think you be lucky to get 1 young infielder the bats .250 with 20 HR's.

A .250 hitter in most MLB ballparks is a .220-.230 hitter at T-Mobile. Probably need to do a bit better than that to move the needle enough to make a difference.

Castillo is not as good as some people seem to think. Not an ace like he was supposed to be. Maybe a decent 2 or 3 starter. You think other teams are stupid? Once he leaves TMO Park his numbers are going to dip. Every GM knows this, and we aren't going to get a lot for him because of it.

Depends on how he gets that average. If he's using the Mariners "hit it as hard as you can" strategy, his average will drop. But if he is a true contact hitter - which are in short supply these days, it seems - and is actually hitting it where they ain't like Ichiro used to do, he can maintain that average, even in Safeco. The M's need a couple of those guys in the lineup.

Seems to have pitched well while he was with the Reds. Actually some of his best seasons (era) came while he was in Cincy.

Trading Castillo is only a good move, IMO, if they are able to win the Roki Sasaki sweepstakes and get him.

He did have good numbers as a Red. I can only account that to being in his prime, which he is on the back end of it seems. He was paid as an ace in his extension but for whatever reason he hasn't been that good. As I said a 2 or a 3 yeah he's great but not an ace.

Castillo is the pitcher I would love to trade away if we can, but it just seems we're not going to get the value that some seem to think. 2 major league hitters? Not likely. Maybe 1 and have to take a salary dump.

Also I'm praying they sign Roki. That's really their best power move.
