Paraphrasing what Williams said after the game how the team appeared to underestimate the Giants coming into the game. It sure looked that way to me.

I have no doubt this was a classic example of a team looking past what they assume is an inferior opponent to the big game ahead.

I take it back when I said in another thread over the weekend that teams don’t get cocky about the team they play, that’s our jobs. Boy was I mistaken.

Williams also mentioned how disappointed he was to see the team quickly get down in the game. He said how often games come down to the final two minutes so you need to stay focused and together like a family.

This game placed just how far we have to go in so many facets right under the microscope.

Let’s see how they respond Thursday.

That doesn't reflect well on our leaders. There's no excuse for overlooking an opponent six days after a loss, and a loss where the opposing team set the single-game completion percentage record. I'd like to think Bobby Wagner wouldn't have let the defense go out and attempt to coast.

Very interesting you should say that. I was at my seat watching this debacle and told the guy next to me "this looks like a Pete team"
Yeah, Soulfish, I figured some dot net members here would also see the same things I saw….

Exactly, like Pete Carroll yesterday….almost to a tee…..

Why in the world is a team like Seattle underestimating anybody?
My philosophy in sports is to be 100% aggressive, 100% of the time. I TKOed a guy in boxing and the next time we fought I underestimated him and lost. They may have had all the intentions of winning in the world, underestimation is just something that sneaks in at the worst possible time and without you really knowing it.

Interesting take considering that we played the Giants last year when Pete was still the coach. A game we won 24-3, established an effective running game, and sacked Daniel Jones 11 times.

Sorry, but no. That didn't look like a PC coached team to me. We saw a PC coached team play that same bad Giants team almost exactly a year ago and it looked very different and resulted in a very different outcome.

I’ll give you Seattle (with Carroll) played the Giants last year and in New York and beat the Giants but, I’m more so, referencing the looking over opponents, and thinking Seattle will just be given the game type approach that Carroll had a bunch of times…

Remember when Seattle last year got swept by the NFC South? That was thinking Seattle would walk all over a lesser opponent….that was exactly what Seattle did yesterday. Seattle thought they would walk all over the Giants….so yeah IMO they looked like a Carroll team (under estimating opponents) yesterday at least to me they did…..

It was also the 1st game this year that the majority of the players didn't look like they wanted to be playing - a semi-common occurrence under PC the last few years.

The Giants offense ran the same plays over and over again.

3rd and 17 backed up to your own goal line with Daniel Jones at QB . . . do you think the might run a screen, Mcdonald? Holy shit. Then they do it again. for another 20 yards.

They repeatedly run a shotgun QB draw.

They repeatedly ran playaction dumpoffs with crossers or near the flat.

It was a bad, bad loss on the coaching staff.

Crossing patterns on 3rd down. Easily converted. Over and over and over and over (27 more overs) again.

I think it was the Drew Luck curse. Drew played the game last year vs Giants and now he was on the sidelines with the Giants. So the luck shifted with Lock to the Giants.

Injuries for Detroit. Underestimating the Giants. The excuses end here. If we can't beat a struggling Niners team in our house, we're just not good.
A Niners team that just lost to the Cardinals, at home (!?) no less.

IDK.. I don't think we've been to the that level where we can over look lesser teams. Right now we are a lesser team and have no right to over look anyone.

Players of all people should know that there is no such thing as an easy game in the NFL
