Also, we should play more 1s in preseason. And there will be a lot of teaching when they look at the tape.
While there are obviously benefits to playing the 1s more pre season it also means more chances of injuries like Nwosu's. I trust the coaching staff to get the balance right.

Macdonald put a massive stamp on the defense. We saw things we haven’t seen in years under Pete. The tackling, the adjustments, the different pressure looks etc. I truly think we were a bit archaic in our approach the past few years and Macdonald moves us into the modern era. It’s not all schematic either. Reports of players being held more accountable probably plays a big role too.

It’s early and we played a rookie QB but we just looked much more sound in our approach, we tackled much better and gone was the 15 super easy completions a game we would give up over and over and over. I’m sure we will have some rough moments and games but I think we’re in a better position to make adjustments and come back out of it.

That’s my hot take and I’m not trying to upset the Pete fans(heck I’m a Pete fan too)

Lay ‘em on us.
Why weren't you in the Radish™ game day forum?

We could've used your calming influence as we were losing our freaking minds watching the offense get slapped around 😂

My first take is what everyone else is saying regarding this being a brand new team, coaches, scheme. There will be growing pains .

The defense was strong and will get stronger. I can't wait to see them progress.

The offensive line is worrisome , especially with Lucas being out , Fant getting injured, then having to play the guy no one wanted to see play.
Tomlinson looked like shit, slow and not worth having on the field. Connor Williams will get his feet under him and be a difference maker .

Nice to see a team gather themselves , stay poised and win a game they were losing in bad fashion.

I know people were talking about a new nickname for our defense and I have one ..

I'll keep it real with the acknowledgement of a game vs a rookie QB. The D did play great but it was Nix's first game.

Let's hope the D continues in the same fashion moving forward.

People hating Charbs is an odd thing to see... can only assume its fantasyfootball freaks.

What a weird assumption. For the record, I don't play fantasy football and I couldn't care less about fantasy football points.

How is commenting that Walker looked amazing rushing the ball today, while Charbs was completely ineffective "hating" on Charbs? That's what I saw in the game today. Do you disagree?

K9 - 103 yards on 20 carries for a 5.2 ypc average.

Charbs - 12 yards on 8 carries for a 1.5 ypc average.

I'm not understanding why you seemingly have a problem with people commenting on this.

Defensive creativity was there, couple lapses and some tired DL allowed Nix to get a TD at the end of the game. I think this will be a top 8-10 defense by week 7 or so. Once they start generating some consistent pressure (Nwosu should thrive) this unit will do some damage, IMO. Was great to see all the variance pre-snap, Nix looked like a freshman in college for 2/3 of the game. Secondary was all over their guys, couple almost INT's as well.

IOL is an abomination. I don't know if there's ever been a worse first half effort by interior lineman than what we saw. Two safeties given up by their poor play. Once Grubb ditched the pass game and they were able to run block things calmed down a bit. But those guards were genuinely bad. I don't think we're at panic mode yet but another week of that quality play and JS needs to be looking around for new talent.

K9 was running hard, I think they close out the game 26-13 if he doesn't get hurt on that ~9 yard run. Didn't seem to have much contact and he was mad at himself for stumbling. Clearly the lead guy over Charbs though.

Vertical pass game didn't have a chance to get going today given the atrocious OL play. Grubb basically ditched anything vertical in the second half and just ran some mesh stuff complimenting K9. Denver's secondary is also really good. I think the pass game will get going but they really need to hope IOL plays better going forward. Too much talent with DK, JSN and Lockett to not have Geno tossing it all over.

Special Teams....especially punt receiving unit, needs some work.

They need to go out and see if they can find a RT off the trash heap...Stonemotion Forsyth isn't the answer.

My hot take is that I grossly underestimated how bad our OL is and I might have to give up my prediction of 11 wins because of them.
Very true. We’ve got to get better up front.

Defense looks legit. Very few yards after catch and didn't get run on. Nwosu still to come back as well. Offense was a bit concerning first half. It may take Abe Lucas coming back and Haynes starting to fix it, and just time/reps.

I like that Grubb adjusted. Not sure the last OC would have

First half offense, especially the offensive line was worrisome. Definitely have some work to do

Special teams were not so special on returns

Defense impressed
